72 E at Morris Williams Golf Course in Austin (10/5/17) from the black tees (73.0/124):

  • 4 birdies, 4 bogeys
  • E on par 5s (bad for me), +2 on par 3s, -2 on par 4s (this never happens)
  • 15 GIR (personal best)
  • 32 putts
  • Missed extremely makeable birdie putts from 12' (6), 15' (7), 10' (9), 9' (10), 17' (12), and 12.5' (15)
  • Drove it like crap all day but only mis-hit 1 iron or wedge (5i on the par 3 14th, made bogey)
  • Shot of the day was a feathered 6i to 10' from 185 to a hard-to-reach front pin after a poor drive on the 9th

43-43 for a tidy (for me) 86. Should have been 4-5 lower but a missed tee shot on the short par 3 and a couple of bad 3 putts cost me.

Potentially my last round ever on my home track as we're in the process of a cross country move. Got a little emotional on the tee on 18 figuring it'd be my last tee shot ever on that course. Managed to keep it in play though.

Too bad I couldn't have played like that in our year end Ryder cup event last weekend :/

Gross 85 at Kirtlington, UK. Some fantastic approaches and my long clubs were going well again. Comes after a 91 yesterday at my home course. The trick for me seems to be to only take a 3/4 swing. It still gets me 220 yards with my driver and 190 yards with my 3h. To hell with what my coach says :)

Shot an 80 today (6424 yds. 72.2/129 - M, 79.0/138 - W). Missed a downhill 3' putt that would have given me the 79. Essentially played to my cap (women's) on an over watered mess. Course is a good design (Robert Trent Jones, Sr.), but they have no clue and apparently no money for properly maintaining or running a golf course. Sad. First round on Bermuda in awhile. Ughhh. I am going to have to get used to it since we have now retired in south TX.

40 on a 34.5/129, 4 pars and a birdie. 3rd time playing a nine this week (and decade), but have been playing skytrak sim golf. Left a tonne of shots fatting wedges that tend to not fat on sim golf, but also made a couple of nice putts to not let that affect my score too much. Delays in the last 4 holes were ridiculous, so not in a hurry to play for my handicap now, which was my next step. Might bunker down in sim golf for a bit longer and work on my swing for a little bit.

Shot a pretty solid 68 (3) - back to back rounds in the 60s for the 1st time ever.

I made mistakes on each of the first 4 holes but managed to still make par on all of them somehow (I didn't deserve it). I missed the fairway way right on 1, thinned an approach shot on 2, hit a tree off the tee on 3, and nearly in the hazard left off the tee on 4.

From hole 5 on, it was a really, really good 14 holes. I hit every fairway and only missed 1 green after the 4th. Stats on the day were 11/14 fairways, 16/18 greens, 31 putts

Had a rather up and down 83 at The Crossings in Carlsbad. Went +1 through the first 7, then had a double after an OB and it kind of went downhill from there. Had a few good birdie looks that lipped out, an eagle look as well, but I definitely could have played my irons better and been more consistent with the putter. Ill try and redeem myself this weekend.

Mostly PING clubs, with TaylorMade woods.

Shot 71 today on a par 70 (73.0/121 women's and 67.5/115 men's). Missed a 3' left to right downhill slider to shoot even par. I hate slow bermuda greens. Still shot below my index if you believe the rating which I had to create using the USGA procedure for unrated tees. Hit the ball fairly well considering how little practice time I have had recently (house hunting, working on the boat, etc...). Retirement is hard work. ;)

80

An 8 on a par 3.

4 Birdies. :superman2:

18 651 yd. However, I played from the blacks.

Lol, emerald tees coming soon. Presumably something longer that 651. Is that a par 7?

Finally broke 80 today. 39-40 for a 79. In 55 degrees, wind and rain...and with the greens recently aerated. Somehow I made enough putts and struck the ball incredibly well.

This was the same course I shot 80 on a few months back...with a 9 on the card...and a double at the last. Gateway National near STL.

I think next summer will be a good one for me and golf. Shutting it down for the year until spring. Next year the goal is to shoot par on a course.

  • 2 weeks later...
  • 1 month later...

had a fairly good day, +14 on a fairly easy course, holed out a chip from about 20 meters for birdie, and had the wedges working all day till I duffed the first on approach on 18, and then thinned the second to sail the green for my only triple.

29 putts!

fun day, good blokes to play with as well.

Had an interesting 9 holes today. I'm home for a week vacation, but just sent my wedges in to get reshafted, so I threw an old Titleist 755 PW and my 8th grade Cleveland CG12 56* into the bag.

Round went bogey-double(3putt)-par(30' putt)-par-bogey(3putt)-par-par(chip in)-bogey-eagle(45' putt) for a 39. I made 2 bad 3-putts and 2 long putts that had no business going in, so I suppose it all evens out. lol
