Fox Broadcast - US Open

If this were a regular tour event I would change the channel and score points with the wife for proactively watching Say Yes to the Dress. That's how much of a complete sh*t show this is by Fox.

Damn...sometimes I cannot believe how negative and critical the WRXer community can get. Things can always be improved but overall I like the broadcast.

1. Seems to be more emphasis on shots from the tee and fairway....less endless shots of people putting even though the crazy undulations in these greens make putting more interesting on this course than most others.

2. I really like the Protracer camera angle from behind players for shots from the fairway that shows the line that players take. Much better than a closeup of the ball while it's sailing through the air. I think networks use the same "ball-in-flight" shot that is "recycled" over-and-over.

3. I like the electronic shading of the greens so I can more clearly see the the high and low areas. Subtle but nice and not overused so far.

4. The mobile "robot cam" and "drone cam" do not seem to be overused and offer differing camera angles and perspectives. I like them.

5. The course is different and offers different challenges to the players and is different to watch, but I like it. Would I want every course to look like this....no. But then again, I like links-style golf so maybe I'm a little biased.

6. The announcers are doing a reasonable job working together.

But like others have said, I do find the "stagnant" leader board a little annoying when the leaders are in the clubhouse and maybe show the position and performance of the current group a little earlier. And maybe there are too many microphones. At times,there seems to be a lot of background noise behind the announcers. And sometimes cutting away from...and back to....certain players is a little awkward but that was periodically an issue with other networks as well and Fox is doing a pretty fair job overall.

Pavin is beyond terrible. Faxon is the only talent they have.

There has been a ton of swearing it seems this year. They really have the players miked up.

Where did Fox get all this on course broadcasting equipment. Nobody can respond to the announcers in the booth from the course due to "battery" problems. And all the constant cutting out with the on course reporters. Either more bad equipment or all the golfers are constantly cursing as it seems to happen after every bad shot.. The funniest thing is those huge headphones and microphones that Norman and Buck use. They look like something from the 1960s. The microphones are so big you can hardly see their face. Maybe they are needed for wind purposes but the headphones are gigantic.. From appearance and performance it appears they bought a bunch of surplus used equipment..

Did Holly flunk her first assignment? After the first day interviews which were horrible, they seem to have replaced her. She looked whipped like maybe the plastic isn't wearing well, too much time in the sun.. Too much makeup and those nails were real classy.. Did appear maybe she had a saline reduction as she wasn't looking like Torpedo Tilly in the chest area...

This by far is the worst broadcasting I have seen on a golf tournament EVER! The guys in the booth keep making all sorts of mistakes and saying things totally inaccurate. Greg isn't bad, but he is kind of dry and not very vibrant. The on course commentating is absolutely horrible. Total FAIL Fox, total FAIL! ...

I think they are doing a great job, and those graphics are exceptional. Also, they don't have nearly as many commercial interruptions as the other networks.

They are also cutting off a lot of crowd comments. I could have sworn that I heard the crowd heckling players on day one. Was it just me?

I had high hopes for the US OPEN this year, but I can only watch about 15-20 minutes of it before turning off the TV.

The USGA had how long to get the course ready?

I have a new found respect for my local municipal course superintendents, after seeing the USGA hack job on the Chambers Bay greens.

is it me or is Fox assuming the US Open/golf viewers are the same level of intelligence as those who watch nfl on sundays? all these graphics with sounds and having to explain every little detail is just as said above, like fingernails on chalkboard. almost everyone watching knows the game, you dont need to tell me where the ball is going as im watching it go there.

And Joe Buck and Brad Faxton are as bad as Faldo, Miller, mcChord, Nance and Berman.
