Like alot of guys I'm almost there, I'm very very close.

Driver - spin is still too high for optimal launch, I need to swap out to a Kuro or get the G400LST

5 Wood - been in the bag forever, never let me down but hasn't got the ideal sole shape for fairway approaches

Hybrid - locked.

Irons - built my ideal set but need to replace the longer irons with something more workable

Wedges - solid setup but still think that moving to 54 / 58 would give me more options at the top of the bag

Putter - it's a lottery, just put a Dual Force 990 in the bag, rolls well, probably still got a 3 putt or 3 in it.

Like I said, as close as ever.

As long as I have money and continue to play I may never be completely content. I have shot some of my best rounds and at the end of the day wonder if I have the right mix. WRX, EBAY, Puttertalk and other retailers add fuel to the addiction. Sometimes I am happier if I just play with my current setup and do not worry about equipment changes.

  • 1 month later...

Missed this thread the first time around. My bag hasn't changed much in a while and if it weren't for the groove rule or wedges just wearing out, I would have even fewer changes over the years.

I do have multiple versions of the same club to change between winter and summer. Course conditions change so much in the NW that it is beneficial.

Driver: Cobra ZL 10.5* (change to 9.5* in the summer to get more roll)

Fairway wood: Adams Redline 5050 16* (change out to same model in 14.5* in the summer for more roll)

Hybrid: Adams A2P 18*

Irons: Titleist 716 4-P

Wedges: 52/56/60 Vokey SM6 (60* changes to K grind in winter, M grind in summer)

Putter: Scotty Cameron Napa

Good to see someone else with the ZL in the bag. I keep trying to knock it out for some reason but head to head it still flat out performs better against anything I put it up against.

Finally and really pleased to be able to say that. Last clubs added were the wedges.

This has been a lot of fun but I am actually tired of thinking about equipment. I am hitting the ball well, and my elbows are finally hurting less so life is good :-). Looking forward to now working on getting the HC trending a couple of points lower in the next month or two.

My goal for the summer is to be at a 5 HC before my trip to the Monterey Peninsula at the end of July and then to card an 85 or less at Pebble and Spyglass. I don't know if any of that is realistic but I enjoy working towards something :-)

Maybe I could think about changing my set SW and LW with specialist wedges and my G400 SFT with a regular G400, since my game is improving, but actually I am really happy.

If I should be not happy of something, it is with my swing and ball striking skills but I am working hard (although not as much as I would like) with that.

Love the ZL. But I think the shaft is what makes it great. I put in a Matrix HD6 shaft and it was magic.

I'm getting close with mine, went through a lot of changes this last off season:

Driver - Going to dial this in when I get it back from Continental. 915 moving to the backup spot as its been acting funny recently (noise changes, possibly inconsistent performance). Shaft is solid and will be getting another 1/2" taken off the tip when it goes into the M1.

Fairway Woods - Solid. Especially the 4 wood which i'm looking to build a backup for as its my main fairway.

Driving Irons - Almost there, these took some tinkering as DIs are new to me. Different shafts for a slightly flatter ball flight and a touch of counterweight to make them feel right as an extension of my irons. Still working on the new 3i.

Irons - Also solid. Managed to snag 3 NOS sets of the shafts I use thanks to some eBay hunting so i'm set for ages now! Moved to an MOI build with much smaller length gaps between clubs, as a tall guy I have liked this a lot. Weaker more traditional lofts and these shafts have given me the mid ball flight I like to see and the feel is perfect.

Wedges - Still trying to find the formula that I love here. My 52 is feeling redundant sometimes and I don't like the shape of my SM5 56*. I love the shape of the old 456.14 but the narrow high bounce sole isn't the most versatile. The V-Grind is awesome around the green but I don't much like it for full shots which is why I need versatility out of the 56*. Might to a completely different 54* / 58* setup. Not sure yet.

Putters - Always been happy here. Ever since I picked putters based on eye dominance i've been much more comfortable.

Who is completely content with all 14 clubs in their bag? If you are, reply to the thread and paste in your current clubs.

I was reflecting on this today. I have been playing some pretty good golf lately and I am confident with each one of my clubs. I've changed all the clubs in my bag over the past two seasons (except my 3 wood and 20* hybrid). Like several others here, I tend to get cabin fever toward the end of winter which results in spending time researching and purchasing new equipment. I think it will be interesting to bump this thread next spring to see how many changes are made.

Here is mine:

9* Ping Anser w/ Ahina

15* V Steel w/ DG Lite

17*, 20*, 23* G25 Hybrids

5-PW Ping S55 w/ ZZ-65

Ping Glide Wedges - 50* SS, 54* WS, 58* ES

Ping Ketsch Counterbalance

Soon.
