Went to the tournament today. Couple of observations:

 

1) Spieth cold fatted a 3 wood on the 10th hole tee. Ball went about 100 yards into a set of bushes. It was pretty bad too see.

2) Most Taylormade guys were playing the M1.

3) DJ had his old clubs in the bag including M1 driver/fairways

4) Fowler - Say what you may about him but he had the most chicks in his gallery by far.

5) Jamie Lovemark is a big dude. He looks like a friggn NFL tight end and crushes the ball.

6) Schwartzel flat out pures every shot.

Difficult to pick a likely winner. In Herman and Lovemark you have two guys who have not won on the PGA TOUR, although Jamie seems to be getting close to that breakthrough title.

 

Herman is 38 years old, and the highest position he has ever enjoyed on the OWGR in 176th. He has five career top tens in 105 TOUR starts.

 

Lately, Dustin Johnson and Henrik Stenson have specialized in getting the minimum out of the maximum. Since the start of 2014 these two "titans" have a combined two victories (both DJ's) in 81 starts on the PGA TOUR.

 

Castro and Reifers also have never won on the PGA TOUR, and with a Masters invite on the line, we may see a little more gagging than usual tomorrow.

Hard to pick a winner! If Herman wins does he make it into the Masters?

 

The obvious names to pick would be Stenson and DJ but closing out doesn't seem to be their forte. The amount of times those guys have been up there and not done much with it should really grind their gears. Henley wouldn't be a surprise for me. Seems like he does pretty well when he does get himself up near the top of the leaderboard.

I dunno about that. His commentary is ok but I keep waiting for him to ask for some grey poupon. A steady diet of him on the broadcast would grate on me.

The time it took to figure out the wind to play his third at the par 5 8th was crazy. They even had the wind meter on the tv and it was 2-3mph.
