As a s55 man, seeing these is like a waiter saying, oh sir, there is more! This is awesome, something long desired from ping, and they combined it all together perfectly (I hope). Trying to justify getting these as high school golf is now over, and I wont be playing much in college, but maybe as a late graduation gift??? Never the less, great looking irons, my golf friends at school today were freaking out about them

they look like the g glides, soles look wider then other blades and wonder if there going to be cast or milled? idk reminds of the back of a iPhone

I wouldn't be surprised to see many s55 loyalists hang on to their clubs just in case, I know I will.

I rather the look of the S55's. Wish they would have just remade those on the new material. They do have a really clean simple look to them though, but I think the 55's have more perimeter weighting just by looking at the design.

Wish they kept the traditional Ping numbering font on the sole. Other than that, #clean.

 

Paint should be less likely to come out of these though.

 

Wish they would stop plating stainless irons.

They are pretty for sure, I guess I am one of the only ones in the non S iron fanclub. I had the 57's for a short time then the 56's and the 55's for a bit and kept going back to a forged blade. I dunno they just felt hollow and dead to me for some reason. Maybe I couldnt get the right shaft in them or didnt like the headweight but I am sure I will end up with a set of these to try yet again and end up back with my x protos. Go ahead and take my money again Ping.

Can you order irons from PING without any paint fill? I think I remember reading on here that someone had a set of iE's with no paint fill ordered from PING.

 

No paint fill on these would make them look even better imo.

Like 99 percent of you, I too like the looks. I wonder if they'll make an i series crossover. Ping stated it's a new category. Maybe something with a degree or more loft and less from heel to toe. They always seem to have a line that fits the average player and a line that is a bit more advanced. Maybe we'll see before the US Open or Open Championship.

Just went to golftown here in Toronto (it's Canada's golfsmith arm, though it wasn't always that way), and the price of S55's has dropped from 1299 to 999 CAD for 3-PW. I asked about no charge shaft upgrades for the S55's, and the guy took to me to the computer, only to unknowingly find out that the S55 is no longer in the drop down list. I would guess the Blade arrives soon.

Thanks for posting Richard. Good looking irons - that's for sure. These irons are very temping but I must resist as the BeCu's are here to stay.

Out of all the club manufacturers, Ping seem to have really stimulated a lot more interest from golfers who may have otherwise bypassed their products. They've never been lacking when it comes to a sizeable following but since the G30 woods were released its seems like they have been on a roll. I'd love to know how their sales figures have gone over the past 18 months.
