Well, I was pulling for Akshay anyway. From his point of view he started the day with a

5 shot lead and shot 5 under. That should win outright 9/10 times.

 

Man, they were 9 shots clear of the guy in 3rd place, lol.

130lbs was what weight I wrestled at…………as a 7th grader!

i’m sure y’all know this, but new exempt guys don’t get paid until they make over $500,000.

 

they get $500,000 at the start of the season and their winnings are a draw against it. they don’t owe anything if they don’t make that, but they’ll have to make at least that to keep their card.

 

non-exempt guys who get into tournaments get paid if they make money and $5,000 if they miss the cut.

Sheesh, game ain’t easy when futzing with your swing.  Last 5 rounds had been 96-98 just hitting the ball everywhere.
 

Last week, imagine making ~100+ feet worth of putts on aerated, sanded greens and still shooting 96 (though most of the aeration holes were flattened by sand decently.) Seriously, I hadn’t made that many long putts maybe ever. Had a nice putting thought that helped cure the heel strikes on longer putts but had a major case of the lefts off the tee to waste a good putting day.

 

Today, had a full swing thought from YouTube I decided to use. Only hit one ball out of bounds when I stupidly tried something else, but almost saved bogey on that par 4 glancing a long putt off the stick. Unfortunately that was one of 3 doubles in the last 5 holes for an 82. Two birdies on the day and a bunch of GIR.

 

Things might be looking up! Felt like I had good ball control, but ~6500 yards in even light winds might be a bit of a beast for my 97-101 mph swing speed. My brother with 107 mph ss always drags me back there. I like more 6100-6300 tees. I did beat him by a couple shots though.

Was more fun watching Nelly today. Shadow Creek looks tough as all hell and she just made it look so simple.

I watched Nelly kick butt. Course looks absolutely pristine. I will say the greens look absolutely brutal. Looks like they wax, not cut them! They shine on TV!! Haha

They were rolling around a 12 according to the marshal I asked. Above the hole; you were DEAD. Like absolutely dead. Two or three times, Leona was like 15ish feet above and barely tapped it ... rolled out to 20+. Just brutal. 

 

There're some insane ones I dunno if translate on TV. I forget which hole it was but one looked like a damn near vertical drop of a tier. Then I think 13 maybe when Nelly was way right and wound up just conceding to Leona - probably the only bad shot she hit all day. I was looking at it all "I have no idea how to get that even remotely close." It broke like 90° about halfway to the cup and just ran to the front of the green. 

 

ALL the greens are like that 😂 I've said Spyglass is the toughest course I've ever played but if I ever can swing getting on there ... pretty sure that one will take its place. 

 

Wanted to grab some merch but nothing jumped out at me. I don't think they were letting us unwashed masses into the ACTUAL pro shop. So this is all I got ...

I watched the early re broadcast this morning. As usual NBC/GC was all over him as in well he had a good tournament if Askay and McCarthy had not steamrolled the field. Oh yeah they said it was looking good for Rory heading into Masters week. Oh yeah he is going to head into a buzzsaw next week.

Yep I was at 150 when I went into Navy boot camp at age 17. I came out 9 weeks later a muscular but lean 175. A year later I was at 200. But what happened with me besides the drills and exercise is my body caught up with my hands and feet. I wore size 13 shoes at 14 yoa and a XXL golf glove. My hands and feet never grew anymore but the rest of me continued to grow

Ha! Back in the day the Stadium bleachers were basically like Fort Apache yo!

 

Bleacher seats like $8 and you’d get some of the most vile elements of society (myself included 🤣) as your accompaniment to enjoy the game

 

The right fielder of the opposing team would always be serenaded by songs filled with lyrics that would make a sailor blush!

 

One time these guys walked in with Boston Red Sox gear, had some big dudes looking around all tough like “yeah? Try to mess with us!”. Two innings later they were covered with beer 🍺 and half eaten hot dogs 🌭 and admitted defeat and left 

 

On another fine afternoon, these blonde chicks walked in, they must have been like Swedish tourists! They looked around in horror at the Neanderthals that surrounded them and promptly headed for the exit 🤣

 

These days , everything so expensive, you get nice a reasonable class of people even in the bleachers.

 

But back in the day be like

I just read yesterday that the Bronx was the poorest congressional district in the USA.  I must say. That’s hard to believe in a way .  I would have guessed somewhere in West Virginia.

It’s a shame what happened in the Bronx. In the 1920s up to the 50s, the Bronx was a highly desirable place to live. There were tons of professionals living there, just a 10 minute ride into midtown Manhattan. And tons of well paying manufacturing jobs to support a thriving middle class

 

Then…I can’t discuss in too much detail but a cascading of dynamics resulting in a downward spiral, ultimately leading to the South Bronx looking like a war zone. 
 

Heres the Grand Concourse, at one time, it was actually a bit like Park Avenue. Wide boulevard, luxury buildings, it would host parades.Today, you definitely wouldn’t walk around there after dark 🙁

We are doing just that today. Our tee time is 11:33 and the peak of the eclipse is around 3:20pm, we should be around the 17th.
