I'm a bit late to the trip thread, but to all those selected... congrats!!! I'm envious. Glad that everyone arrived safely. A little sketchy there for a minute or two, but safe none the less. I hate that the weather has thrown a curveball, but happy to see TMAG took care of you guys. Lots of cool stuff that us common folk don't get to see everyday. Aviara is gorgeous. I lived near by in San Marcos for a short time in the late ninties, and even interviewed for an assistant golf professional job there. Seems like forever ago!

 

Enjoy everything you guys see and do. A bunch of great guys and and an amazing opportunity. Can't wait to hear more about the fittings, tech and experience.

Quite the haul today!!

 

 

Tour issue M1 460 8.5* cranked up with a PX HZRDUS Black 6.0 tipped an inch. Tour issue Leather headcover, a dozen TP5 Proto Balls, and fitted and adjustable caps. Not too shabby!

 

We're headed for drinks and dinner in just a bit so I'll post more later tonight. There was so much we did today! Weather didn't slow us down a bit.

 

EDIT: We also got Tour Issue umbrellas with covers. That was the gem from today.

Where to start-

 

First, this has been a really awesome trip. Weather aside, we saw so many cool things today that I will need some time to collect my thoughts for the big post. Dozens of pictures coming - for those who haven't seen, I posted a number of them on instagram as bculaw18. I'll bring them into this post shortly.

 

A couple of quick thoughts before dinner:

 

Putter fitting may change my life. The whole process was very scientific and provided objective data showing where improvement was needed and made. Far more insightful than simply seeing whether you made or missed. To be able to see whether a particular putter aimed properly, stayed on path/aimpoint during the strike, and provided a true and quick roll is a big deal. I went from really awful numbers to really solid numbers in a matter of minutes without changing anything in my set up or stroke. This could be a big deal, real world beneficial change for me.

Driver and putter. The original itinerary was for us to spend 3 1/2 hours one-on-one with an assigned fitter to go through the entire bag. Freaking monsoon forced us indoors, so that wasn't possible. Our hosts did a good job rotating us through the available stations, but not enough time or space to do what was originally planned.

The TP5x was amazing, great feel and sound! I gained 5-8 yards with the 6 iron over the PV1x. Higher flight! On the 50 yard chip the TP5x went higher with more spin and tighter dispersion.

Good stuff here!! Sounds like the TP5X is the real deal! I would vote for iron and wedge fitting tomorrow! Without playing a round. Or just extend the trip 1 day :)

Let us know about the new p750/770 irons and wedges. A question I had was why they left the top line of the irons so thick and squared off? I feel like everything looks great on the irons except that aspect. Did they have to keep it like that for the tungsten on the bottom?

We sampled the irons a bit today at the end of the day. I have to say, they look GORGEOUS. I really didn't think the top lines looked thick at all in person. I was partial to the 770s for a bit more forgiveness. They're very soft feeling, easily on par with my MP25's.

Sorry you all got rained out. You're getting a bit of really rare weather for around here. This is the wettest year in at least the last 5, since I moved out here. Glad to see it's still going great, though.
