Jordan, he has some of the best ball sticking on tour and the man is pure magic with a wedge in his hands. 18th at the travelers, The low flight, and high spin shot that he hit during the open. JT is a heck of a player but not the same long time quality and overall mind of the game. Jordan can have some putting woes but stays consistent with his clubs, I love that. I'm a JS fan for sure but I truly believe that they will be top 5 players every year for years to come. Can't wait to see more of them! Back to school work cause I'm in language arts.

Neither catches Tiger in wins or majors, but I think Spieth finishes his career with at least 10 majors. He has that "it" factor that the most successful athletes seem to have in their arsenal. JT will win five majors before his career is done. Two more PGAs and two US Opens (because he has the length for both).

Lol, no kidding. No one is catching Tiger.

I don't think either of them will catch Phil.

Nice of Jordan to dress up for the Payne Stewart award ceremony. Oh, wait a moment, no, he didn't. White shirt, no tie, no sport jacket. At least Justin, sitting next to him, had a sport jacket (blue blazer) on. Most everyone else in the audience was dressed in a suit coat and tie.

I'll take Justin Thomas.

Spieth is a generational talent, a guy who competes seemingly week in and week out. JT, IMO, is a player on a hot streak, an incredible hot streak to be fair. I think JT is better than Webb Simpson, but Webb had one of those years where he won a lot, including a major, but has cooled off since. I think eventually JT's swing gets away from him. Face it, that incredibly aggressive lower body move is going to get tougher to sync with his arms as he gets older.

I think Spieth has Tom Watson type career numbers, and Thomas gets to 15 wins or so with maybe one more major.

With all due respect, neither guy is a unknown entity. Remember JT has been an acknowledged killer since they were 12,13, 14 yrs old. It may be new to us, but these kids already have a decade plus on the "world" stage competing against each other. JT is on the same type of 15yr. hot streak as JS..........

For me, that kid (Thomas) is the "wee little iceman" all over again.

This post had quite a few critics in September, now just 5 months later thier career stats so close. Seems Thomas is the safer answer now.

Would still need to win a second major, when Spieth is on 3 majors, and has more wins. Is trending nicely though, basically winning at over 20% over the past year, which is a great run in any era.

Living off the putter is dangerous game. I think JT has a better chance at more wins overall because he doesn't have to go find distance. Add to that that he's a good finisher and you got yourself about 30 wins on tour and at least a couple of majors.

Spieth is better than JT tee-to-green though so I don’t think this applies in this situation. Aaron Baddeley is someone who lives off the putter, Spieth does not. JT will have done well if he matches Spieth’s 3 majors by the end of his career. JT still has a ways to go.

I would say that Spieth is better approach-range to green. He has a magic touch, son of ball sport players, and he is smart. But he has a poorer swing. A swing transcends a-general-feeiling-for-how-a-ball-works(there is a scandinavian word for that, is there a word in American?). More effective for longer shots. The golf swing is the core of golf. And it seems like sons of pros gets that in the blood. Furyk.

hilarious in my opinion .. JT has about 1/100th of the brain strength Spieth has.... Jt is riding a hot streak ... one that has netted 1 major... the easiest one... spieths hot streak netted 3... nearly all 4 in 1 year... you guys forgot that ? Spieth and JT arent now nor have they ever been on the same level... Jordan has occupied the space between JTs ears since they met. You can see it in his face everytime Spieth is mentioned. I saw it yesterday when the reporter told him he passed Jordan in the world rankings... his eyes lit up .. he cared more about that than the win.. That tells me all we need to know... Jordan will fire up and win a major this year and the carrer grand slam soon.... their 2 careers arent close until JT gets 3 different majors ....2 -3 pgas wont do it either.

JT looks like he is going to live a more exciting life, JS melts into multi wealthy average.

JS wins the race, JT more dynamic.

So JT hangs out at Perkins and then runs over a fire hydrant?

Well, Justin has the edge on "f" bombs. :-)

Yeah F bombs in regulation, F bombs gained, F bomb media room spin rate, etc. etc..

My money would be on Spieth. The guy is as mentally tough as they come. He just seems to be, "I'm gonna find a way to succeed no matter what" kinda guy. If his putting goes south, he'll fix it. If he flairs it right near a tractor trailer, he'll make it up on next hole. I remember his college coach saying something about him in that the guy just has no 'give up'. Nothing against Thomas. Far from it obviously. They're both insane good. But how the heck anyone can not pick Spieth as intense as he is and backing up that intensity with the shots. But what do I know. I only just recently learned to tie my shoes.

I like what Crenshaw said on meeting Spieth, "Was like meeting Wyatt Earp. I thought he was gonna gun me down" or something to that effect.

They mentioned during the telecast this week that JT has won something like 150 tournaments since he started competing as a junior player. Kid knows how to win. Not concerned with his swing. Spieth still confuses me a bit. He clearly gets uptight when he sleeps on a lead, but has found a way. Putter not so hot this year, keeping him out of the winner's circle. Long run, I think I like JT.

BTW, those calling Spieth a generational player and not JT are mistaken. Both are. In last 30 years, there have been THREE players with 8 tour wins at the age of 24...Tiger, Spieth and JT.
