Why was the Dunlop logo featured at the end of the video? How are they associated with SRI?

Dunlop owns Srixon. Conglomerate in Japan.

I guess I shoulda just googled it. It’s funny how all of the sports brands eventually get intertwined. SRI Sports, part of the Sumitomo Rubber conglomerate owns Dunlop, Srixon, Cleveland. Perhaps the video was meant for Japan and The UK so the tie in with Dunlop would make more sense.

Wikipedia:

Dunlop Sport is a British sporting goods company that specialises in tennis and golf equipment.[4] Dunlop have manufactured sporting equipment since 1910.[1]

In most of the world, Dunlop Sports is owned by SRI Sports, a subsidiary of Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo.[5] Spartan Sports have the rights to the brand in Australia and New Zealand.[6]

I love the 5 series of the Srixon's, but hate a busy cavity. So what I did (and what others can do as well) was took a heat gun to the badge and removed it from the back cavity. After that, I had the heads glass bead blasted to give them a satin finish as well as remove the black paint that was in the cavity under the badge. I must say, they look amazing. I can post pics if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the pics! About time Srixon!

I think I will go for the 7 series this time around. Not because I think I’m a better player. Because the badge in my 7 and 9 irons has come loose in my 545’s. I hate that.

Unless they don’t fly well for me I’m going for the 7’s.

Any pics of the 985’s?

You can do what I did with my z545's. Removed the badge and had them bead blasted. They look much better now. I can post pics if you want.

As promised. Sorry, the camera quality on my phone isn't the greatest. As you can see, inside the cavity, rust/patina has formed because when the heads were bead blasted, it took away the paint, and there isn't any chrome plating in the cavity. I think it looks cool, kind of like how tour players have rust on their wedges and such. Also, the 3 and 4 irons aren't bead blasted, because I didn't think I would every really use them, so I just decided not to get them done. I am regretting that now as I love them, and will probably have to go back to the company to get them blasted so they match the rest of my set.

Anyways here they are.

I knew I shouldn't have done it...I shouldn't have hit the 965s. They are now all I can think about...gotta convince my wife I need them to replace my mp18s.

What do they do better than the Mizuno?

It altered sound a tiny bit. Not as muted without the badge back there, as it most likely took some sound dampening properties away. I would describe it as sounding just a hair "pingy" when struck outside the center of the clubface. But's a very small difference, and many might not even take notice.

As for feel, they still feel great, so no real change there. Still very forgiving, and performance hasn't changed at all.

FYI, my pga superstore is receiving their demos on the 27th for a full release on Sept 15th

J, you finally looking to upgrade the 745's? I'm doing these or the Mizunos depending on what hits best.
