No 985 is set for retail release, only tour, unfortunately...for now at least.

Same this combo is hard to beat I just picked up a set this year and love them. I may have to get a backup set if I can’t find a great deal when the 85s roll out.

Nothing special looks-wise. I really do not like the appearance of either compared to the last two generations. Granted, the 545/565 and 745/765 are hard to surpass. But the 585 is ugly IMO. Do not care for the thick black ring on the back of the club. Same thing that I did not like about the current Callaway Apex. The 785 looks better, but is it better than the 700 series before it? Have to see it in hand. Blade size could be more compact.

Not bad, but they shot their load in the looks department on the 45s, IMO. That line from irons to all woods was really sharp looking. Still, I am sure the 85 line will be worth a shot, everything they make is quality.

If the 585's are a little more forgiving than previous models, they will have a huge hit on their hands. Yes, 545/745, and 565/765's blend well, though there are a lot of people who can play both. In terms of GI irons, 565's can be a little on the "gamer" side of GI. As it seems like Cleveland is taking up the SGI market, maybe this year's release will separate the lines a little more.

 

In terms of what other manufacturers are coming out with comparable to this line, the 585's still look good to me. When we stand over the club, you can not see the cavity. This is the internet and WRX though, so it is expected :taunt:

 

In comparing 565/585 pictures, it looks like they painted part of the cavity black, and it makes the insert look even larger than it is. I think the insert will be larger, maybe just a few millimeters if anything. They are growing on me, and I will demo them. If they are well received I will be interested in seeking them out in a couple seasons.

If you guys want to get a spectacular deal, go back and grab a set of the i-506's (forged cavity back). I always try the new stuff but I keep putting these back in my bag year after year. I think you can get a set for well under $200 used.

I have done lots of unbiased fitting and the last series of irons preform very well. Stealing a lot of iron customers from mizuno.

I love my 545's but sometimes wonder if the 65 would be a better fit for me as my miss is usually on the toe. If that the case, I might go to the 765's. Any help on if the 65 series is better for toe misses? Thanks!

Never hit the 45's but the 65's are fantastic with toe hits, which is my miss as well.

Although the design of the 565 appears to be better for toe hits if you look down inside the cavity of the 545 towards the toe you will notice a good bit of weight in there.

I played the 45s and 65s with he toe hits being the miss. The extra weight location helps but you're not winning championships because of it
