Store in Woodridge, IL said in stock via Google shopping. Called the store and they said they didn’t have them. Went anyway and had probably 50 dozen or so. I bought 18 dozen and a guy came up after me and loaded up the rest.

I went to the Home Depot near work where I originally bought 3 dozen around Xmas time. Google shopping shows that they had them in stock. I walked that store about 5 different times and could not find them anywhere. I checked a different Home Depot near my house where I also saw them at Xmas time and didn't see any there either.

Stupid store by me had none. They were kind enough to show me where the golf balls were. Great. I took a box truck with me to buy the remaining inventory. I didn't win this one. I hate not winning. Maybe if I'd have skipped breakfast. Maybe if I didn't have a 8-5. At any rate I have zero golf balls to show for it. I'd have bought them all. Bar none, I'd have bought them all. Zero is what I bought. Sigh.

 

I have a decent credit line and I had visions of pallets of balls being loaded onto my box truck. I was screwed. I juts wanted a pallet or two...

Well, I didn't find any either. Really no loss...i wouldn't have played them, just used them in place of some range balls at certain courses.

I was kidding, mostly. I was planning on buying them all though for the 98¢ or 78¢ a dozen. To a point, that point would have been what I could have reasonably fit. Instead I rented the U Haul for nothing (that's kidding too-I took my Kia sedan).

Where I scored the most was at one HD where I asked the girl at the customer service counter if they sold golf balls. She looked at me like was crazy and said golf balls??? Like real golf balls?? She said go to the Clearance section and check there. I found 1 dozen there and came back to ask her another question. I said, If I went to other HD's, are the Clearance sections always way in the back?

 

She looked at me and said, You really want to golf with these balls don't you. I said, No, I just asked you several minutes ago so I could buy them then bounce them off your head for fun. She said, uh, sir, if you REALLY want some golf balls, I've got some behind the counter here you can have. She went behind this curtain and laid out 15 dozen balls. She said, I was saving these for someone I know but since you REALLY want golf balls, you can have them. I said, REALLY?? No way I feel bad now, you don't have to. She said, no it's ok just take them because my ex-husband isn't really all that good anyways.

 

So, I walked out with 16 dz golf balls. On the way home, I was thinking to myself, what the heck just happened back there? She was playin me and hoarding golf balls. She acted like she didn't know what I was asking her about, then she whipped out 15 dz balls. And, what girl saves golf balls for an ex-husband?????

 

Weird, just so weird and bizarre. True story except for my first two responses to her. Those were my thoughts, not what came out of my mouth. Moral is, don't just walk around looking for them. If you don't see them, ask!!

She was hiding golf balls and acting the fool. It was well within your rights to start bouncing them off her head. Next time you’re in the store, you can still take advantage of the opportunity, but substitute door knobs for the golf balls.

Alright, I'm coming from the other thread on this topic. I loaded up before Christmas when they were $4.98 a dozen. Actually I only bought 6 dozen. But it was at the time of the year when I always look for a cheap ball to play through the winter. Honestly, they aren't that bad. And I'm a 4.9 hdcp right now. Gonna save a dozen or two of these because they will be my new scramble tee shot ball. The fairways are soft and wet and I've been hitting missiles with them. I can't get the thing to spin crooked either direction. Whatever direction it takes off...that's where it's going.

By the looks of it, people in this thread cleaned them out and probably resold them to friends, family, and Kijiji for like $3 a box. No reason anyone would need to buy more than like 15-20 dozen for personal use (even that is EXTREME). This also reminds me of that K-Mart club liquidation sale where the OP was called an idiot and then it EXPLODED. 716 AP2s with Steelfibers for like $5-$10 a club, Nike, Taylormade, you name it they had it. I remember the thread being vicious as people were PO'd they didn't get in on it.

Even a year after I would wonder if sets that popped up on the BST were the lucky few benefactors waiting until the heat died down and then making a nice flip. Can’t say I even blame them. Crazy stuff like that is why I try to keep an eye on Deal or No Deal. Never know when the next unbelievable opportunity will arise...

I remember calling my FIL the day of that thread after finding out his local Kmart was on the list. Basically told him to drop whatever he's doing (he's a dentist) and get your butt to Kmart. I've been off the deal crack for a while now but that one gets me ready to roll all over again.

I have to admit, I was salty on that one. Most of the KMarts had closed around North Seattle by that point, but man. Luckily I've had my fair share of wins. It wasnt anything like the KMart blowout, but Cobra accidentally placed all their shafts on 50% off for a Black Friday sale. I bought several thousand dollars worth of high end shafts and they honored every one. I think that deal only lasted a few hours before it was picked up by Cobra and then cut the deal.
