I haven’t been around for a while but I’m back in the game now. I remember a guy from back in the day who was always switching sets entirely and getting fitted over and over. He’d hit the BST and sell it all just to do it all over again. He kept changing his screen name. He had Titleist in the name at one point and then would switch to all ping and change his name again.

 

Anybody remember who I’m talking about?

it sometimes surprises me when reading back in some of the longer threads and seeing people with 1000-2000 and even more posts who got banned, I suppose that it will be deserved, but seems sad if you are a real WRX'er who is involved to get banned.. I have been a member for a long time but only became really active last 6 months .. LOVE IT !!!!!!

Thrillhouse and I are best friends in real life. He just got sick of the amount of time he was spending here. We talk about the occasional thread in the phone still. Had some fun late night conversations in threads with some of the old regulars. Good memories...

I never saw this thread when it was originally posted but thanks Isaac for bumping it up. Yeah I read the whole thing this morning and there was a lot of names I know and some I do not. Never figured out why some got banned and some are not banned. Really honestly I do not keep up with what goes on in the mainstream of WRX since I am into the Classic clubs. Now some of the guys like Richie Hunt and Pure 745 I do look at their WITB posts when they post a new one to see " what they have gotten now". In all my time here on WRX I have only blocked one member. I think the one from my time that got banned on here was Opinder and that was in the last 6 months or so. In the world of Classic Golfers sometimes we see someone not posting a lot that has in the past and we think the worst. I got a PM about a week or so from a friend in the Classics about one of our deregistered members had in fact passed away about a year ago.

Please take this with a grain of salt and consider the source, me and understand our history wasn't the best. He's from the Chicago area originally. Around Thanksgiving I received a PM that said he got into it with one of the mods and then ownership regarding a comment expressing some personal views that aren't allowed to be discussed in these parts. Personally, I was happy it wasn't health related as that's always a concern.

Thanks for the memory. You know, BITD, when entertainers were involved with the Tour, the tournaments seemed more fun to watch. Of course, some of the pros at the time were seemingly more colorful - think, Doug Sanders, Mike Hill, Trevino (of course). And when the "new wave" of players came into being on the Tour - Crenshaw, Kite, Bean, Strange, etc - these older events seemed to get even more jazzed up.

Maybe I'm sentimental, but I miss golf when it was like this. Another era gone by that I don't think will ever be rekindled.

 

As another aside - finally watched some of the old Shell's World of Golf shows that I had recorded during the holidays. Seeing Palmer, Beard, and Sanders play "PGA National Golf Club" or what became JDM Country Club when the PGA moved out (or got kicked out, depending on who you talked with). The course was so new, and really didn't appear to be in very good condition, especially the greens - and cups!!!

 

Interesting story on how that piece of property developed, but won't bore people here with it now. I'm too sober, and it's too early - maybe sometime soon.

 

Gonna get up to 60+ here today, but going way down again in 48 hours. Yesterday at this time, was only about 22 degrees. Gotta love winter here - no snow (yet, but had some last year - got pics to prove it, too)

Yeah - for life ban. But, I think he is doing OK. Waiting to hear back from him, as I emailed him when I realized he was banned. Pretty experienced fella when it came to financials and large operations.
