My opinion of PXG has gone up a few notches after learning about this.

I believe the program just started June 1st so not sure if the inventory is endless but I heard Drivers/Fwy/Hyrids etc will eventually become available.

 

They are customizing, offering tons of shaft options, etc. Parsons is the man.

I have my set ordered. I’m just impatiently waiting for my 4-PW set of black 0311T’s to come in. I’m currently gaming the same set but the chrome version. For the price it was to good to pass up

I had a fitting last week and ordered a set of Callaway X-forged. They haven't even shipped. So, when I explained to my wife that I was making this iron purchase as well she about punched me in the throat lol. You are right - too good to pass up.

 

I was pumped to see they offered full custom builds w/ lots of shaft options. Congrats on your purchase. I'm not gonna sleep this week hahaa.

Yeah nah.. seems to me that once PXG had “new old stock” after gen 2 dropped, this was the perfect time to implement the program.

Bingo. It's a great way to move old inventory without diminishing the perceived value of the brand as a whole.

 

Take for example something like Nike shirts. Yeah, you can buy them from Nike direct for like $70+ a shirt... or I can go to TJ Maxx where I know I can almost always find a Nike shirt for less than $30. Why would I ever buy one at retail, even if I'm not a customer that's not that particularly price sensitive?

 

By making the closeout prices available only to a select few, it doesn't give the general population any sort of reason to not buy at current prices unless they weren't going to in the first place. People interested in PXG would be more apt to wait for prior gen models to become available which would hurt Gen2 sales.

 

With all of that said, it doesn't negate that this is still a nice gesture and if I hadn't been fitted for new Srixons this off season I'd be all over this.

And your point is? Come on, every club company including TM, Titleist, Ping, Cally, Cobra etc lower their prices when they intro new models. So why is PXG any different? It's a nice gesture, Leave it at that and let's find something else to be cynical about.

I don't understand being upset over a companies policy concerning military discounts, on the 1st and the 15th of every month the US government and us are all square. At that point, us and john q. taxpayer are all square. Yeah it's nice to be appreciated and told "thank you for your service" every now and then, but I don't think it's right to get upset over an offer being for gen 1 and not gen 2 irons. I personally will never get upset over a company choosing to not do a discount.

Turned out to be about $175 per club (w/o any shaft upgrade costs).

 

Yes, it's a nice gesture considering Parsons general attitude on offering discounts for his clubs - but not really 100% altruistic or all that impressive considering the gen1 limitation. Clearing out the gen1 inventory is certainly part of the picture (and nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned).

Yes, Ping offers a rebate on their clubs. Although unfortunately (for me) it doesn't include all veterans - only for active and retired.

TM's 15% off is probably one of the best military club discounts in the industry.

Wow. That’s like the PING discount stories we’ve all heard about.

 

Hate to break it to you Bobert but once I purchase your irons, you have literally zero say as to what I do with them. Our contract is complete and I am the sole owner of them.

 

Don’t get me wrong, that’s great that they are doing that because not many other companies do, but in the end they are paying what? The cost of a brand new set of current gen irons? Although I can see some O’s taking advantage of this, because your avg E6 and below can’t afford this stuff.
