Titleist's new TS 2 & TS 3 driver - shot @ 2018 US Open

So those of you that initially chose the TS3 over the TS2 go back and get the TS2? I prefer the head shape of the TS3 but we're not getting along right now;)

I'm thinking of going the other way. I got the TS2 and for now the Srixon 785 seems better in every way. I do want to try the TS3 with a different shaft as Im thinking the Smoke is not working for me.

Whats your TS3 setup?

Mine is a 8.5 with Evenflow White S-flex but I'm going to go in and see if the TS2 is any better on the sim. If all fails, back to TM;P

Hit them both, liked the looks of the TS3 best but the feel and forgiveness of the TS2. Distance wise I couldn't see much difference but on average with my game the TS2 will yield more distance with the added forgiveness.

Got to try both, I'm a high speed and spin player, TS3 was definitely better but I tried the TS2 and it was definitely straight as an arrow, very managable misses, but it wasn't massively different front the TS3 except I saw higher launch and spin in the TS2 (as was specified by Titleist)

I tried the TS2 and TS3 next to my current gamer, (M3 8.5 with Hzrdus T1100 75X) also with the T1100 and I saw some better dispersion but as you can see just slightly higher spin. However the very last thing I tried, TS3 with Tensei Pro Orange 7TX was wild, the loading and feel of the shaft as well as dispersion was incredible, hit 5 in a row that were my best of the day.

And ignore that it says Rahm and JT, we were comparing my numbers to them (which is really fun to do)

Overall I'm super impressed with the TS models, great sound and feel and especially dispersion, honestly happy with the M3 for the immediate time but I probably will have to check out a TS3. Maybe with the Tensei Orange.

Interesting. I was hoping someone tried it with the Pro orange. I game the PO in my M2 and absolutely love it. Was curious to see what it would be like in the TS3. Probably just need to add some head weight to get that smash up a bit, since it’s counterbalanced. Good numbers though.

One thing noteworthy after 6 full rounds with the TS3: the sound is dramatically better in neutral weight position and the driver feels better in that position. I always try to weight woods towards toe to eliminate the left side but the TS3 sounds like crap with the weights in the toe. And i have 5grams of cotton in mine.

I have only hit the TS3 with the weight in the toe position. So maybe that is why I didn't like the sound. I never really tried hitting it with the weight in neutral position.

Has anyone tired the Smoke 70g in the driver? Did you numbers change at all between the 60g and 70g?

Is anyone finding the Smoke to deliver more spin IRL?

On the monitor, it did for me, just couldn't quite get it to work. The Even Flow worked much better for me.

I am sending mine off for some hot melt. My M2 head is 201g so I think the 195g head is causing some inconsistencies. I certainly haven't been splitting fairways with the TS3 so it's time to tinker.

JStang, where do you send it to get the hotmelt? I've always wanted to try some hotmelt in my driver/3wood but nowhere around me does it....

Yes. The TS2 / smoke combo seems to be spinning a lot when I've taken it to the range, enough that I have shied away from putting it in play over the 785.

That's exactly what I'm seeing.

Its odd too because the Smoke shaft seems like its stout af but also spins a lot. I dunno

This was the opposite for me, the Smoke in the TS3 spun less that the EFW in the TS3.

I just think it really comes down to who you are and your swing make up.

Mine was the same, I went to the +4 weight and it made quite a bit of difference for me. I hope you see the same results.

Thanks! I have the +2 weight which got it to 195g. I loved the feel and muted sound of the hot melted M2 so I figured I would go that route instead of getting a heavier weight.

Same for me. Smoke launched lower, had an overall lower apex and spun less. I could feel it load much better for my swing so in the end, its about trying them both and seeing what works. I was all about the White until I tried it right next to the Smoke.

I didn't try the smoke, but I tried the Tensei in 55, 65, and 75. The fitter said my path was getting less out to the right better as I got heavier.

I ended up getting the Tensei 75 @ 45 inches with the heaviest weight in a TS2. The pick sheet says the swing weight is D8.

As a normally “Stiff” shaft swing player who likes more of a soft midsection and soft tip. The best shaft for me in the lineup with the tensei in Xtra stiff. The stiff felt way too loose. X felt great.

Big gap btwn the tensei and smoke. And smoke and even flow felt too close. IMO

I’ve been thinking about this as I’m planning to try out a few different configurations this weekend before buying driver and 3 wood. Seems to be a big gap in the standard options. Thanks for the tip in trying the x. I’m between 100-110 driver swing speed depending on the day and how loose I am. Usually a stiff guy too. I don’t want a shaft that requires all in at all times so Tensei seems right just need to try the x.

Same here, and the fitting cart had nothing but junk so I took it to a local guy that does shafts and got refit a few days later.

Agreed. I actually ended up with a 9.5 TS3 with the Fuji Pro 74 TS in X (and 16.5 TS3 fairway in Fuji Pro 84 TS in X.) I was shocked when the fitter had me try it. Finally got to play with it today. WOW! Long and STRAIGHT. Missed 2 fairways all day by a total of 5 yards combined. Used the fairway off the tee once (hit 2 balls to be sure the first wasn't an anomaly) and both were 250-255 right in the middle.
