I call he puts it in play his next tourney... Then swaps out to old reliable on Friday or Sat. He will probably want to test how he melds with it under pressure...it will also be determined on how the greens are at the course if he breaks out the TM.

 

This is by far potentially the most unprecedented equipment change in Golf History. I thought he'd be buried with his NP2... Seriously... In the casket with him.

Whatever works I guess I don’t really care for Taylormade putters . I’ve owned a few of them and so have my buddies . What I hate is that it seems like they use the cheapest most fragile paint they can find . within months of purchase white red or whatever color putter begins looking like it’s been living in a desert sand storm for a month . The plastic face inserts crack etc. I’m sure with access to the tour van and with the weight adjustability etc they can be made to be close to as good as anything in the end . I doubt he games anything but that Scotty .

Tiger really likes to release the putter head...Probably doing this to change up the feels a little bit and reboot the muscle memory

 

The Ardmore 3 on TM website has 40 degrees of toe hang. I'm betting Tiger's Scotty was right around there. So he might actually be thinking about using it.

 

If Tiger believes that his problem is that he is not consistently hitting the sweet spot on the Scotty, then the mallet could be the answer.

I'm seeing that the Ardmore 3 has 12 degrees of toe hang. Would be far less than the Scotty.

Tiger had a stint with a heel shafted Del Mar 3.5 at one point in his Nike days. This is the TM version of the putter.

I remember him using a Method 003 but not a SC Del Mar. I could be wrong though.

 

He did use a Nike Method 003 for a bit

Round 1 at Shinnecock, he was definitely checking out DJ's putter on several occasions, watching him hole putt after putt. If he does put it into play, I don't see it lasting very long

I agree their retail stuff is absolute junk when it comes to putters. They look sloppily built, the inserts are terrible, & the pain is horrific.

 

I assume their tour stuff is much higher quality all around.

I'm not sure he would have gotten a special color not available for retail if it were just something to get his feel back. He just might game it this week.
