So guys. Was his issues him or the putter ? lol. It isn’t ever the equipment if it’s been working for 20 years. Just defies common sense.

I wouldn't say 29 is good or bad, that's a tad high but not horrendous. Plus number of putts is NOT a good indication of how well you putt on the whole. If you placed every GIR 40ft away... you think you're going to have many 1 putts? Likewise, if you miss every GIR but you can chip every single time to 4 foot... are you a good putter if you make 23 putts?

Here is what TW said:

“I am very committed to it. It's technology as well. We have the grooves in there just like when I was with Nike, helps roll the ball better, faster, earlier on the greens,” he said.

“I've always struggled on greens that are a little on the slower side and these greens aren't very quick right now and they won't be quick in three weeks' time, either.

“So it was a nice thing to move to a putter that rolls a little bit quicker, it has more swing to it. I've always liked putters that have some swing to it.”

“I rolled it well today, I really did. I hit a lot of good putts early that didn't go in,” Woods claimed.

“If I'm hitting putts on my line with my speed, then I'm happy. They'll go in eventually. It's been a while since I've done that.”

I've said it before, but his line to the hole is off lately, he looks pleased at/after impact and holds his finish only to look puzzled afterwards, at the path the ball actually rolled on.

It’s sad to see that the motivation here is what’s is going into your back pocket rather than what works best for the customer. That is the perfect reflection of the industry, companies paying at retail to get more sales to say they are number one and to heck with the customer. I can promise you this it does not and will not ever happen in my store, I reward my guys on the basis of repeat and referral business not what brand they sell, having a customers repeat business or a referral to someone is far more valuable to a business than any sales incentive.

On the topic of TM cutting back on reps, that’s true to a point, there have been stricter working guidelines set down and they haven’t been able to adapt or not been up to scratch so they’re have been let go. I know if I was a rep walking into a store where guys were motivated by what goes into their pocket and not the product, I would feel like a walking dollar sign to them and wouldn’t want to waste my time going in there. I’m kind of happy that TM don’t give incentives, to me it shows they have enough confidenence in their products not to try and falsely get sales at the retail level. I guess that behind the scenes knowledge will now have people questioning the claims of companies saying they have a No1 selling product at retail in the future. Tour is different, before anyone says anything, as we know players get paid to use product like any professional athlete gets paid to wear basketball shoes, use a certain type of tennis racket, drive a brand of car.

We have a great relationship with all our reps as they are all on an even footing when they walk in the door and no one gets special treatment or an advantage over another brand, and out of that we get a lot of inside information earlier than most retailers do as we are trusted to keep the information to ourselves so we can plan more effectively and be ready to get the best deals to our customers.

From what I observed yesterday there just wasn't much change in Tiger's putting with the Ardmore vs. what he had been doing recently with the Scotty. Admittedly one round is a very small

sample but that's all we have to go on so far.

I'll be watching with interest again today. I hope he makes a few more putts.

That's SG18 stats, not # of putts.

I think the more important thing, is how many 8-10 footers he putted that simply weren't anywhere close to catching a piece of the hole, let alone go in. He keeps talking about not being able to "see his lines" on the greens and you could definitely see that in yesterday's round. More often than not, he's playing break on straight putts.

I did not see any of yesterday’s coverage but going through the pga tour stats, Tiger only missed 3 putts inside 10 feet and I don’t think he 3 putted yesterday so to me it would seem he just didn’t hit it close enough. Most of his approach shots were 25-40ft away. Granted this isn’t an easy golf course, nobody is going to make a lot of birdies from that range. We seem to forget, when Tiger was dominant on tour it was his approach shots where he gained the most strokes (I believe it was nearly 2 shots per round) his putting has obviously been off as of late but yesterday did not seem like a poor putting day in any sense.

He's putting better today... Sank 3 birdie putts over 6 feet... Though he has missed several under 12 feet (which for a professional whom is paid millions of dollars annually to play golf is a bit subpar.)

I think we should expect this putter to be around for awhile... He sounds quite committed to it.

* The only issue that may arise is his ability to adapt to greens rolling at 12±. Not sure which track they go to next which may fit that description but you may see Ol' Reliable back in the bag there if he can't find the speed with the TM.
