This is what I find interesting about all the prognosticating based on who's hot/who's not, world ranking, etc. It's predicated on the tired old 72-hole stroke play format which is perfect for golf robots that can focus strictly on their own game and ignore all that goes on around them. Match Play is a different beast. There is no ignoring when your opponent, for all practical purposes dead and out of the hole, suddenly makes a miracle chip or drains an impossible putt to win or tie. It's a punch to the gut that cannot be ignored. It is a true test of the mental aspect of the game. 72-hole stroke play robots, however good they are, will need to summon up some extra fortitude to be successful in the Ryder Cup.
