I agree. I think he was plagued with chasing distance as his average is up several yards from a few years ago. He's not doing well with the new TS3, maybe time to bench it.

They have no choice but to replay the Tiger 2001 putt. This tournament is short on iconic moments. There is

-be the right club, today

-Sergio kissing his putter

 

That is literally all they have.

Spieth's biggest weakness, his accuracy off the tee, has really taken flight this year. Not only is he frequently and equally missing to both sides, but by a large distance.

 

..I was never a fan of his swing with the long clubs specially the driver..

 

 

I can only hope he can fix it soon..and the putting too..

I would disagree, he is hitting wedge into every green but is not realistically close enough to make the putts at a high volume. Definition of a sub par wedge game.

 

Rory ranked 15th last year in proximity to the hole from 100-125 yards. He ranked 20th last year in proximity to the hole from under 100 yards. He ranked 97th in putting. I think it's pretty clear where the problem lies.

no it's not cheering anyone up :-(

 

But the English Golfers in particular are doing pretty well, Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Wallace in particular are terrific golfers.

Sense of deja vu from last week with Fleetwood and Bradley being at the top of the board. Let's see if they can do better than they did when the got into the lead last week.

It's not cheering anyone up!! I need golf to distract me from the misery of a bunch of pensioners voting to make life worse for everyone apart from them as if everything else they have done or not done as the case might be wasn't bad enough.

I've noticed the distance is up a bit too, although I think his ranking hasn't moved as much (20 spots or so).

 

If true (distance chasing), I don't know if it was a bad move or not. I think Phil figured out how to add a lot of distance once Tiger started killing everyone. Phil wasn't short when he came on tour but in the mid-2000s he was one of the longest. This move almost certainly extended his career/relevance, and probably changed it as well. McCormick's main student on the LPGA added ~10 yards and got to #1 for a period.

 

Obviously we know for whatever reasons Spieth isn't playing well now. However, it may be less of a foregone conclusion that "just doing the same thing" would have kept producing the same exceptional results.

Can someone explain to me Sabbatini's Slovakian citizenship? i thought he was South African?

He married a Slovakian women, took Slovakian citizenship and I guess gave up his South African citizenship. It’s ok, they won’t miss him down there. I read somewhere that it is for him to participate in the Olympics. Only way he’ll probably get there anyways

Then it must be something else. I seem to find UK golfers all over the top of the leaderboards week in and week out. Rory, Matt, mr Hair, E-man, Matthew Fitzpatrick. Rose and Poulter. Even Westwood won down in South Africa, Four britons before any other european at the moment. The scandinavian golfers aint doing anything similar. Haven't done any damage in a long time.

its not the B. word, it's just good golfers coming from a golfing country, who now have decent coaching setups and the desire to win. It's taken a pretty long time!!

I love him on the Notre Dame football broadcasts. He also is an excellent narrator.
