They over seeded the course wall to wall so it would be green and lush as hell. When you over seed the course plays soft and wide and at times wet. Guess what happens when you have a shortish course length wise that is playing soft and wide with playable rough? Lower scores. Shocking I know. If the PGA Tour didn't over seed and have it looking green like Augusta many people here would be whining the course looks terrible on tv w/o the over seed. Who cares what the actual scores are under par? The quality of golf being play is more important that how a course is playing to "par". If the course this year is so easy due to conditions why didn't anybody go lower than -19 after 3 rounds when The Players was played last year on a firm/fast course that doesn't compare to this years easier conditions?

Ya, saw a number of drives that would have rolled through and into trouble had it been dry and fast.

 

Fairways looked like 70s carpet.

 

And agree on the quality of play. The course gives some opportunity on certain holes but they have to make some great shots out there to get in position and take advantage of it.

I think March Sawgrass is going over aces in its return to actually being the 6th Major (after the Tour Championship as no one can argue with 10 mil).

 

Should be a absolute showdown tomorrow. Hope they continue to keep it soft and get-able. Might not have much of a choice with the precip in the forecast.

Heard some fool yell "Go America" after Jason Day teed off on a hole. Pretty stupid and pointless thing to say - seriously, getting drunk in anticipation of the President's Cup or just anti-foreign born? Idiots. Kind of like slow play, the Tour just won't do very much about it.

What is the average score for this year compared to last year after R3? Is it lower this year for the field, if so, then it can be argued the course is playing easier.

 

But yes conditions clearly has an affect on scoring.
