In all seriousness I got mixed feelings. Wasn't planning on going--but then last Sunday happened. PGA's going to be um, festive. Long Island bro style. I went to 2012 Barclays at Bethpage and it wasn't much fun. Even then it was really difficult to watch Tiger and he wasn't even contending. At least it won't be the armpit of summer this time. Let me know though, I can probably be convinced.

I like the move to May and having lived in the NY Metro for most of my life the course should be lush and tough. Ending the Majors with the Open in July is fine with me and then they can begin the money run for the Fedex which to me does not have anything close to "Major" status but is a big payday for the pros. Ryder Cup and I will perk back up.

Good point. Should be interesting to see how the older golfers handle the schedule.

So cold and wet.

Highs around 60 with rain everyday is going to make for a mess. They will have to move future PGas south to make that work.

YES, very lush rough, and can be quite cold & wind blown in May in NYC region. The soft greens offset by wet, thick rough in May.

Yes that's predictable sometimes May is miserable, cold wet and occasionally snows. Like I said this May decision will result in that tournament ultimately exiting most if not all northern venues.

i think the pga knows they'll have to use southern courses more ... think that's one of the reasons they switched, esp with their move to dallas ... they'll def have a dallas site, and can now use southern hills without the possibility of heat strokes ... could possibly use champions in houston ... and without getting into a debate, it IS getting warmer up north, so whistling straits/etc is not necessarily out of the question ... kiawah/quail/valhalla won't be affected ...

they'll be fine ...

A) If you are worried about heat stroke with the PGA in August, don't play.

B ) I think the US Open in June is the perfect opportunity to get a northeast course growing hard enough to get crazy, hay-like rough but also warm enough and removed enough from the really wettest part of the year to get the fairways baked out and running. If they could somehow get the fescue in the rough to go ahead and get a little tawny brown color to it it would be perfect.

C) I don't know what the identity of the PGA is supposed to be.

D) If it stays in the south (especially Texas) it is just another tour stop in the early part of the PGA Tour season to me.

What do you want be when you grow up PGA? A ball-buster like the US Open? Something kind of unique (in the context of the PGA Tour courses) like The Open? You ain't gonna be The Masters so don't go there.

lol so how is it overrated exactly? or is it just a "i'll post this and see what happens"

after playing with numerous people of all skill levels they all say the same thing -- it's a bear and a beast and owns the plaque proudly.

Don't get me wrong, of the harder courses I have played throughout my life, Black is up there at tough as it gets. However, painfully long and tough doesn't make for a great track, or one I would "rate" very high when compared to other courses. The only one tougher was Oakmont (that I have had the unique pleasure to play twice).

I had more fun at Oakmont.
