I had a first batch 919THI and it was gold. Had it hand picked 11* square and was as good as anything else at the time. Alas the head eventually cracked along the bottom weld. Got another one but I believe it was from a different manufacturer or manufacturing process and it was not the same.

Also, another vote for the TM510TP.

Harrison SAGA was the pairing back in the day. Played well with a lot of mid launch shafts. But that was because it was a lot lower spinning than most of the retail options at the time.

Axivcore was the cool shaft to get in the 909's. Tour green was supposedly a poor mans Tour AD DI. Great shaft, had the 86 in my 3 wood. Can't believe the 9015D craze was basically 10 years ago.

My vote goes to the Cobra L4V. Second up the Adams 9015D. I never had the Adams but the following on here was almost as good as the L4V . I had 3 L4V's.

I can't say the following was as good for the Cobra ZL Encore but I have three of them right now and I am still gaming one.

I think the L4V was the best driver ever but the sound was the problem. I love my Encores. A worthy replacement to the L4V without the loud sound that could be heard a few fairways over when you teed off.

R7 Superquad for me. It still is in my bag to this day. Have tried others, the Ping g400 LST was most recent. My accuracy with the R7 is unmatched and distance wise I can't see myself getting much longer than I already get out of it.

Tour Issue TM R580XD TP. Still play it at times and for _**me**_ is still as good as many current drivers.

I had a 9015D and hated it. Had several different shafts in it and just never got along with it. I played a pretty sizeable draw back then, and that think hooked off the planet for me. At the time I was a low single digit index with a very repeatable swing, just something with that driver didn’t jive with me.

 

I do agree it was a cult classic, just wasn’t for me. As mentioned by someone else, the 910 is the driver of “modern times” that a whole lot of stuff gets compared to. I have a D2 and D3 still that occasionally make their way out of the bag. The 910 was my gamer from not long after it came out until a few months ago. I couldn’t find anything to kick it out of the bag until I got my hands on an Epic SZ.

I was just gonna say as iconic perhaps the Nikey Sasquatch - not everyones cup of tea looks or sound wise ( was like hitting a ball with a Wok) But with the right shaft Proforce V2 red it really worked well for me !

Prior to that in my memory perhaps some of the old Lynx ones that couples maybe played but cant remember ?

Out here in SoCal, I see a ton of mid cappers playing the Taylor Made R1. I get the feeling that these are the golfers that are NOT on WRX since I see little to no posts on the R1. FWIW I personally couldn't deal with the weird graphics on the crown and the red hexagon dial on the sole, but it seems like its a nice high launching low spin driver with a 55 gram stock shaft.

idk if it's the most iconic but i love the old Razr Hawk Tour. i'm on the third one now. I've purchased M1s, M2s, Epic SZ, Rogue SZ and several others and they can't knock it out of play for more than a few rounds of testing. It's just clean and simple with no adjustments to clutter my mind.

I have one for you all that I feel is waay under the radar and for some is a complete cult driver and that the Ping Anser. IMO drivers like the TM's Cobra, Titleist, Bridgestone, Callaway and the like have had some great one off models that people still love and perform to this day but Ping brought this club out and made no noise with it, only saw a very few Pro's bags and had a short product run. I have several drivers from Titleist (910, 913 & 915), TM (Burner, Original One, Quad and M1) and Ping (Eye 2, I20 & G400) and the Anser smokes them all. Fantastic feel, sound & performance. Very good driver and should be on this list.

I absolutely love my Razr Hawk Tour with a RIP shaft in it. The only reason I bought another driver is because the sole plate fell off. I went with the Epic SZ, and while I hit it well, it isn’t quite the Razr Hawk Tour in my hands. I think I still have the sole plate, and if I can find it, I might clean up the head and re-epoxy the plate back on it.
