I’ve owned 2 Scotty’s, bought one new and both were the 2012 select deep milled. I had a new golo and then a used Newport 2 a few years ago for a week. I’m hopeful on this line as I don’t like aluminum inserts or any of Scotty’s recent inserts like you said. Just feels off.

I talked to one of the guys at Scotty's custom shop about this same question and he said that the way the hosel is located on the Fastback that it would have more toe hang than the Newport & Newport 2. Hope this helps.

In my original request I requested specific length and lie but was told they are all coming out 35' stock (like they originally did in 97). I have tried/played virtually every stock Scotty blade style Newport since the original 95 classics and haven't been this excited since some of the older releases such as some of the Circas, Californias and then the Select 2010 and then black Select 2012. However, since 2016 or so I haven't been a huge fan of the insert design. I still played them and they felt fine but then again I didn't have my 25 previously used Scotty's to compare.

> > > EOD, Cameron has said a good putter doesn't need an insert, etc. However, you see inserts can have a positive impact while other inserts have a terrible impact. There is also preference to face milling. You see Tiger got a new Scotty built for the Open and there is no milling, while others have circular milling, deep milling vs lighter milling, and then others have milling in the shape of honeycombs (Betti's).

> > > Scotty fans are of all types. Some won't play one with an insert but will putt with the Kombi or Futura while others would never consider putting with an unconventional design. Some hate the sight line on the Newport while I think it makes it the best overall putter design in history (yes, Cameron owes Karsten since the Anser... well that's another thread). As I conclude, I know this putter is worth $200 more than the current stuff you can get at GolfGalaxy so people complaining of the price as outrageous need to stick with their Ping Sigmas (I love the Sigma 2 ZB2). I have tried every putter on the planet and the Scotty balance and weighting can't be replicated. I like to see the weights in this new T22. I like the new finish and I think the feel will be a little firm. I am putting with the TP Juno and its good but assume the T22 will knock it out of the bag for a long time. And last but not least it comes with an updated Pistol grip which I have put on every putter in last decade. I will reply with my feelings after getting the putter and after a few rounds. And for all the haters out there... peace to ya motha.. go buy some joggers and if you want to learn about putters buy a Hogan Radial PC-1 putter and use that for 3-5 years before giving an assessment.

Scotty's website says 34 and 35 for each model.

Don’t worry fellas, just buy a 35”. Then you can send it over to me at J-Rob’s Custom Shop. I’ll butt trim it 2” and throw on a nearly new Star grip for only $100. Lead tape adjustments are extra of course.

That's weird...usually Fastbacks are face balanced or nearly so.

If that is true, I'm glad I didn't order one.

Right. I own and game the Studio Select no. 1 and would be interested in this release, but not if I can't actually game it because it has such a high toe hang/flow.

while true, slant necks in any kind of putter typically have a decent amount of toe hang.

The ones with the single bend shafts are, yes. The short slant neck, no, they definitely have some toe hang.

Its exactly why I ordered the 1.5 Love the little slant neck, playing the Squareback 1.5 currently and the toe hang is perfect

Newport is sold out on GG, PGA tour superstore and Carl’s. I think the fastback will be plentiful but not the Newport.

I wonder if worldwidegolf will be way oversold. Everyone else sold out pretty quickly, especially on the Newport, and they have been up forever. I'm betting there are a lot of cancellation emails a coming.
