She's now in the team as Lewis has pulled out with a back injury. Do they normally have a travelling alternate or was there a slight doubt over the fitness of Lewis?

Based solely on World rankings, I'd say the U.S. has a huge advantage. Of course this is match play where just about anything can happen. I still think the U.S. wins it, but by no more than 2 points.

I agree with you @Argonne69 I said it in an earlier comment that despite on paper the US being big favorites I suspect Europe will fight hard and cause some concerns. I think US will win mainly through singles dominance.

On a side note, several lady members from my club are there this week working as marshalls and scoreboards holders for both the main event and the junior solheim.

Looks like Aer Lingus managed to lose both Jodi's and Angel's clubs when they were changing planes in Ireland.

Not just any creek and not just anywhere in New Jersey and not just with anyone but in Princeton, NJ at Princeton University with a Princeton student. Brooke does everything top of the line.

Braid was the golf course architect. 1921. From the Blues, it plays at 6,750. That is up and down. It is a spectacular course that doesn't get its due in the modern era. Everyone who plays it says it is a wonderful course to play. It would have been a spectacular Solheim Cup venue. Spectacular.> @"Golf Dino" said:

Braid laid out (designed) two courses at Gleneagles - the Kings course and the Queens course.

Thrilled to hear that Ally is on. She may have a good week or a bad week but I don't think it will be due to being a rookie or handling the intensity.

I honestly expect Europe to win this one. I think they are hungrier and have more experience on this kind of course. They may be a few slots behind in the World Rankings but it's not like the days when they'd trot out 4-5 LETers that were overwhelmed. Europe has won Ryder's with a greater talent disparity.

Lucy Li will be the first out on Wednesday's singles at 8:00 AM; this is likely Lucy's last round as an amateur.

Other than Michelle Wie, Lucy is arguably the most well known female amateur golfer. She's been on the spotlight since she became the youngest to qualify for US Women's Amateur match plays in May of 2013.

Nevertheless, she probably won't regret leaving the amateur rank because of the Apple watch incidence earlier this year.

Lucy, is more determined than Yealimi Noh to turn professional; she's never bothered to sign any letter of intent with any colleges.

She'll play 4 rounds of Stage II to join Symetra Tour. She'll turn professional and earn enough money to qualify for LPGA for 2021.

It's a given that she excels at short games; but she's surprisingly long off the tee in spite of her short statue.

Lucy and Yealimi Noh will be the one-two punch that push US to challenge Korea for most wins on LPGA tour.

No pressure Lucy, but in two years you are gonna dominate the Koreans and put US Women's golf back on top...no wonder these kids/young athletes have mental breakdowns before they reach 25.

I would actually say the exact opposite. I think she is going to struggle, at least for awhile. She is not a long hitter at all, watched some of 2 rounds of hers about 1 month ago and she was the shortest in her group both days. A friend played with her in the tournament and said the same thing, that she is a short hitter.

The people I have talked with about her think she has kind of peaked.

Oh well, we’ll see.

Ally McDonald is a very talented golfer but so far in her career she hasn't coped well with the pressure at the top end of a leaderboard so I imagine this will be a big test. Often matchplay format can be liberating for some players. I hope she performs well.

Team USA now has 6 rookies (3 of the non-rookies have only played one match before and never a road game) in its line up. A few weeks ago I thought these matches would be a one-sided romp for the USA but I have completely changed my mind. I think it will be very close and I'm even beginning to think the Euros can win this.

Annabel Fuller looks like she performed well for Europe. My money says she will be very successful in a few years time. Shame there is no tv coverage of the junior version (although I think there will be highlights on the website). Now looking forward to the real thing starting tomorrow.

Don't worry; her analysis will be inside the studio and after play has completed. She'll have more time to rehearse and structure her sentences.

Weizy just can't stay away, can she. She should be touring Machu Picchu or Easter Island or something. I'm kidding. I actually thought she was going to go to Solheim as a captain's assistant or some role team usa would create for her.

Well tomorrow's pairings have been announced for the Morning Foursomes:

Pressel/Alex v. Ciganda/Law

Thompson/Altomare v. G. Hall/Boutier

Korda/Korda v. Masson/Ewart Shadoff

M.Khang/Park v. C.Hull/Munoz

_______________

Interesting matchups! I could see the morning session finishing with a score of Europe 3 -- USA 1

I say it often, but predictions are the work of fools ... but at the risk of being made a fool, I'll venture my picks ... if only for the sake of conversation! ?

Match 1 -- Ciganda/Law

Match 2 -- Hall/Boutier

Match 3 -- Korda/Korda

Match 4 -- Hull/Munoz

Though I could see Matches 2 & 4 ending AS with a final score of Europe 2.0 -- USA 2.0 .
