I like your picks, except Match 2, Lexi and Brittany win.

Last minute pre event post.

This Suzann pick bothers me. This could be a close affair with the Euro's needing a point or a half a point to win. Her recent results don't give me confidence she would win that point against any American in the field.

The Stacy Lewis (and Pressel) pick didn't bother me. I think she helps Lizette, Lexi and Danielle in the locker room. These three are actually rookie leaders. I'm not sure how good of a leader any of them is at this point in their careers.

I used to listen to a lot of sports talk radio and among the people I'd listen to is Colin Cowherd. He has a few different theories, some of them are complete BS. But he says that one reason he thinks that a highly rated football team will lose (or look bad in) a game the week before or after a big or rivalry game, is because college aged individuals have trouble handling the emotional highs and lows throughout the season. I tend to agree with this. In addition, we all know some veteran golfers struggle with pressure and can disappear at big moments. Megan Khang, Nelly Korda and Angel Yin fall in the college age group. Say someone goes out and gets beat 7&6 one morning, I think it's good to have someone like Stacy in the locker room to give a pep talk and, if she were playing, possibly know how to deal with it so it won't effect her afternoon play.

One additional thing I wonder about her selection. I'm speculating, but it seems to me that Juli really values and trusts Stacy's opinion and judgement. Maybe other players were encouraging Juli to pick Angel Yin in '17, but I've only heard it said that Stacy was the one promoting the Angel Yin pick. The announcers have also said Stacy spoke highly of Altomare. Maybe others have also, but Stacy is the one that is constantly mentioned.

The LPGA app's leaderboard appears to be out of whack. It has the Europeans up in two matches where they are actually down.

It's also a few holes behind. Solid work.

Well ... how about the afternoon four ball performance by Angel Yin and Ally McDonald! They tied the Solheim Cup record by winning 7&5 against the Swedish pairing of Hedwell and Nordqvist. They just dominated this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Lizette Salas has been officially warned for slow play and the possibility of losing a hole for a future infraction in this match. Thing is, I have never noticed Lizette Salas to be a tardy or slow player ... maybe it's just me and maybe it's because she doesn't get as much airtime as others on tour. But, what a way to add additional pressure into match play!!

So some drama on the second nine of Friday's afternoon four balls. After leading much of the Match, Ciganda/Law were caught by Lexi and Jessica Korda, finishing with a halve! After a fairly quiet day with the putter, Lexi managed to drain the putt on the 18th to salvage the match and earn a half point.

And when I thought Charley and Azahara would hold on to their lead, lo and behold, it bites them on 18 as Brittany Altomare nailed her putt and the two European players have their putts dance past the hole. All Square.

Final days points:

Europe -- 4.5 points

USA -- 3.5 points

Not bad day for the US team. They traditionally are not the strongest in team play and today could have ended poorly for them had they not turned the last two matches around this afternoon! I think Europe will need to get a few more points on the board tomorrow so that they can have a bit of a cushion for Sunday singles.

Wow 10 hours is a lot of coverage... My DVR actually puked with about 2 hours to go so I missed the late dramatics - I don' think it likes that long of a single recording. I'm going to split up Sat/Sun. Not that I can watch all of it, but I'll have it on, FF here and there, and try to keep up for the most part.

Shame about Snap...err Stacy. But really, this echo's an earlier post - she should not have accepted knowing her health issues. Also makes you wonder who Juli would have picked if Stacey said no from the git-go - McDonald, or another Veteran? Anyway, I guess it's possible she wasn't aware, but really, how often does one have back issues completely out of the blue. I don't wan't to pick on her too hard, she's had a long road with her back going way back of course so don't want this to sound like bashing, but just doesn't seem proper to have accepted the spot imo. Actually, I got a chuckle they were interviewing McDonald after the morning groups teed of and she was saying how Stacy had been giving her advise on how to play Foresomes... Stacy with the 2-6 record in Foresomes lol. Hopefully no one asks her advise re Singles (0-3-1). :).

Kang appears to have gotten a lesson in not running your mouth... unfortunate, but probably the correct outcome. I've never understood trash-talking in any sport. You got to figure if Suzanne wins one match, she wanted it to be that one.

Slow play complaints are real... glad to see them. It's ridiculous how long pros take to play these days.

Afternoon looked to be a beat down except for those last hole putts... US was teetering all afternoon it seemed other than Yin/McDonald. US needs to tighten up tomorrow for sure.

I might have missed it, but have they said anything about Kerr not being there as an Asst.? I've said this before, it's the perfect opportunity for her - she is all but the de-facto choice for the next captain, whether she wants to believe it or not. Maybe she thinks she will be playing again in 2 years... and she might well be, although I would consider that a long shot. But still curious if she was or was not asked, and if asked did she turned it down? Seems silly for her not to be involved imo. Also one could consider Dottie Pepper for future captaincy - but she's been a bit on the outside since the 2007 comments, even though Meg Mallon offered the olive branch at the 13's SC - but nothing since Juli took over. Could be Dottie decided she's happy with here current life and doesn't want it, though.

After Juli (assuming this is her last, and I think it should be - win or lose - actually I think two was enough, but we are past that so no point in hashing that out again lol ), and then Kerr, there's a stack of ladies who would be logical choices over the next few cups... Creamer, Stanford, Lewis, Pressel, Lincicome, Salas, Lang all cup stalwarts and practical choices - someone's going to get left out - there are only so many slots. Then others who may increase their SC creds or approach the typical age over those next few cups - Wie, Thompson, Piller, Yin, etc. Then there's Wendy Ward, only 3 cups in the early 2000's, ie a while back - but seems to perennially be an asst. Maybe she's on a short list somewhere as well.

Edited, as I somehow left Lewis off the list of SC Captain choices for the upcoming years doh!

am really enjoying watching the TV coverage so far..

we are getting at least 10 hrs live coverage first 2 days and 6-7 hrs on the 3rd day..

and I like how the European announcers are honestly displaying their bias towards the European team but in a nice way..

am wondering how it is in the US coverage??

Well, that was certainly entertaining. The U.S. would have really dug themselves a hole if they hadn't made the clutch putts on the 18th. What a comeback by Nelly and Brittany.

Angel and Ally were fun to watch. I expected them to win, but that wasn't even close.

I'm shocked that Danielle and Lizette played so poorly. Danielle was burning a lot of edges, but she has to make a few putts.

The course seems to be set up to take away the length advantage of the Americans. 'No surprise there. That rough looks brutal.

between her newborn son and the winery IMO golf seems to be a distant third on Cristie Kerr's priority list....the next US Solheim team might end up being a hybrid South Korean team , the purge of the old has beens was needed...the team needed fresh new blood

whoever chose Scotland for the venue in Sept ought to have their head examined...beautiful course, but too late in the year to be there

Was it really trash talking, or an interesting way of describing what needs to be done? " “You’re trying to take souls, you know,” Kang said with a smile. “You’re going there to make people cry at this point, just crush the other team."

I don't really call that trash talking, but to each his own. I imagine the Euro's feel the same way, suck the life out of the opponent and leave them out there crying and flustered.
