What is your wedge set up?

My PW is set to 49*...then Cally 2019 PM 54 and 60. 54 for full and 3/4 shots around the greens, with the 60 used for full shots and any short game shots that are in need of extra loft around the green. They've been fantastic for me.

MD Forged 55 105

MD Forged 60 90

I've tried to keep the gaps consistently 15 yards for full swings. 3/4 & 1/2 swings cover all the in-between distances and flighting various trajectories. I recently changed the 51, 55 shafts to KBS 610 from the Modus Wedge 125 and really prefer the results.

When the traditional loft X-Protos are in the "retro" bag, I switch back to MD2 54 and Scratch 60DD with custom grinds that have heavy heel, toe and sole relief. I get to be more creative with fewer wedges but don't score as well.

One advantage of being a slow swinger is that my gaps are easy to cover. I should say the only advantage, I guess.

I've only had my current Vokey set for 12-15 rounds (depending on which wedge I'm talking about) but as far as I can tell so far my stock full shot yardages are:

46-degree around 105-107 yards

50-degree approx 95-96 yards

54-degree about 84-85 yards

60-degree in the 66-70 range

And my 718 AP2 9-iron is about 117 or 118. So if I just call it 68-84-95-106 that's basically 11-yard gaps from 9-iron down through SW then 16 yard gap to the LW.

Narrow enough gaps I can basically ignore trying to hit in-between shots, although if I am in between perfect distances I will take the longer club and grip down a couple inches. Just gripping down a bit on a wedge seldom reduces the distance more than 2-3 yards though.

I've done 45, 50, 54, 60 for the past few years, but recently moved to 45 (PW), 52, 58. The 50 and 54 I used previously just got more confusing than anything and I was using the 60 for everything 50-60 yards and in (bump and runs, flops, bunkers, etc.). I like both full shots and partial shots with wedges, so simplifying made sense. Just how my mind / game works. Same reasoning behind me only carrying one fairway wood and one hybrid.

I game 50, 54, and 58. That setup has worked for me as I prefer the 54 because I like to play rollout on chips versus praying I fly it perfectly with a lob.

That said, all of my high school studs (all of which are committed to top ten golf programs) play 52, 58, and 64. They just prefer to fly everything to the target. So, I imagine it’s a stylistic preference. While I prefer the shots I can play with my setup, I must admit I think their setup gaps better for the shots I typically play.

I will probably experiment with my gapping with the next wedge set.

Can you explain why you do this, please? Does this increase your dynamic loft?

My wrists do some funky thing where when I swing a 45 pw it actually turns it into a 47 degree pw. My driver is set at 8.25 and trackman said actual loft at impact was about 10.5 degrees. It's all on my swing.

I do have a full set of Hogans 20-56 but the current set of wedges I'm using are Bridgestone and scratch SB1's that were bent to their current lofts.
