Do you use iron head covers?

I have always used head covers on my irons. It is a huge money saver when resale time comes, especially for forged clubs. Club chatter is a huge no, go when I'm looking at used clubs. If you use them, great! If you don't, I wonder why.

I'll use iron covers when I first get a set just in case I might have to flip them and like you said it helps greatly towards resale value. After the irons have earned their spot in the bag, I stop using them.

I only use them when I travel, other than that I found them to be too much hassle, and when you think about it, you are hitting the ground violently with the club, so I am not sure how much good they do...maybe other than bag chatter for forged irons.

What I like about them is stopping the bag chatter and the damage they can do to other clubs, and even the bag hood I always put up when I'm done golfing. I like the bag Hood because it keeps the clubs contained within the bag and also doesn't advertise what clubs I have so others might not steal them.

Ive never used iron covers. Never will.

And chatter reminds me of my childhood - very fond memories. Wouldn’t want to deprive myself of that.

Only when I'm not playing or on the range, otherwise always. Those cheap neoprene ones off ebay work great. Makes a big difference when it's time to sell. Absolutely love the ogio silencer I picked up a couple years back to.

Yeah, those neoprene ones are good on every other iron, those carts jossle the S... outta clubs. Try riding in the back of an old pickup with 12 paintcans. Ouch!

LOL - I have switched to the heavy vinyl versions found on Amazon. Cheap insurance and they have small Velcro tabs to keep them secure.

I don't use the head covers my driver/woods came with. I use "non-denominational" head covers. It accomplishes two things, 1) I like all my head covers to match, and 2) what's underneath those head covers doesn't attract all that much attention.

I would never use covers for irons...even with forged clubs whats the point? A little character gets added to the club. I wouldnt be able to handle the look of my set with them all covered plus all the hassle with taking a cover off every single shot??? Didn't think that many people actually used these.

Screw resale value. When I get new clubs, they are my tools and I am a carpenter. If I don't screw up my clubs in the first week of ownership, then I'm not trying hard enough.

Used on my forged irons since the 1980s, Castle Bays, one set I've had for over 15 years.

Each to their own, I hate clubs clanking around and bag chatter is fugly to me, some consider it character, I don't.

And I was just thinking...none of the golfers I regularly play with use them. Also, I've played matches/club championships at our club with over 50 different players and can't remember a single person using iron covers. I didn't realize they were popular with some golfers

2 of the best amateurs in our area use iron covers both have won USGA championships.

I wouldn’t make any assumptions based off iron covers.

Childish comments. I used to use iron head covers but don't use them anymore. Never did they slow down play, as I am one of the more ready golf type players. Slow people are going to be slow no matter what, ready golfers are going to play expediently no matter what, it has nothing to do with headcovers. I guess we should use your same philosophy with fairway woods and drivers because they slow down play?

I lose golf stuff all the time. Headcovers from my driver/woods, putters, gloves, ball markers, etc... The thought of adding to the list of stuff that will inevitably get lost - no thanks.
