NFL QB vs PGA Tour Pro: which is harder?

Winter is a helluva thing!

Could a 4 handicap beat an LPGA pro from the white tees?

Could a PGA pro stop JJ Watt from sacking the quarterback?

How many Wrxer's can throw a four seamer 98+ mph?

Who would win a fight Chuck Norris or Ernie Els?

All time great players like LeBron have certain intangibles that immediately translate to other sports and give them an edge.

For example, do you not think that LeBron has a superior work ethic, mindset, general confidence, intelligence, etc. Compared to the 10th best tight end in the NFL?

Of course he does. That's why every GM in the NFL would be in line to sign him. Not to mention his athleticism, size, speed and quickness is also superior.

Great question here. as a golfer i know how hard it is to play well and then i can only imagine how hard it is on tour. I cant help but feel its easier to survive as a qb in football then on pga tour. Not to mention your on your own on tour where as in the nfl if a average qb is surrounded by great talent with his line wrs and rb plus a good coaching staff he can mask alot of problems. I really think if you put some of these qbs that we think suck in the nfl in the right situation they can win. Look bo further then nick foles winning a super bowl. Eagles are my team. Truth is foles sucks hes not that great but with the eagles the system and talent he can obviously win you a super bowl. Put him on other teams he looks like a rookie on the browns.

Most qbs problem is theyre afraid. Afraid to throw a pick afraid of getting hit mainly. The greats dont even pay attention to the rush. Look at brady manning etc pocket passers who dont care nothing accept the completion. Btw all this athlete talk at qb... brady and manning and brees. Im sorry are they the most athletic qbs we ever seen lol? Golf takes more skill. Football your hand is directly placed on the ball. Golf you use a tiny iron which you use to control the ball not hands on directly to hit a tiny ball at the precise distance and trajectory with the right spin and curve or straight and have to be damn good at it to just stay on tour becuase most golfers are as good or better then you. Untill brady proved hes the best which is still imo slightly debatable but i agree mostly... their were maybe 10 qbs in the mix for best ever. Golf best ever only 2 tiger and jack.

Golf and Billiards are the games I think take the most skill to master. The precision needed to get the right , speed, spins, trajectory all to get to the right position is not found in any other game. (IMO)

No doubt to make it to the top of any sport takes an elite level of talent but I cant think of a sport where the margins are so small and you have to be a master of like 3 skill sets (putting, full swing, and short-game)

Good point. Depending on the team he is on, the line, the weapons, a QB could do very well or very poorly.

But, I don't think the two are comparable as far as the skill for success. Is it "harder" to make an 8 footer to win on sunday? Or is it harder to take this hit, then get up and stand in again with the same guy coming at you? Totally different jobs

The easiest to understand and summarized point: if you took the top say 30 most athletic/skilled NFL players and the top 30 most athletic/skilled NBA players and had them playing soccer since birth you'd have the top 60 soccer players in the world right there- then think of their current height and strength and it would completely redefine the entire sport of soccer. Every one of the 60 individuals would be the single toughest, biggest, fastest, AND strongest person to ever step on the 'pitch'.

On the other end you could take the top 30/60 soccer players in the world right now (or to ever live if you want to make a fair argument) and have them play basketball or football their entire lives and AT BEST you'd have one or two even be drafted into a league.

Are they skilled? absolutely. Are they world class athletes? Yes.

Are they the best athletes in the world? No. They fit somewhere in after Hockey and slightly before Rugby.

Edit: I will absolutely have my kid dedicate a season to Soccer. Universities are hungry for the sport and I know they won't be big enough or athletic enough to play D1 in basketball or football- soccer is absolutely the way to go for most athletic kids that wont have the opportunity in other sports to play at the major college level.

I'd put hockey players above Soccer and Basketball players.

They have to skate, while puck handling and being hit at the same time.

But to answer the original question. Is there one PGA Tour player who could even drop back properly and throw a 15 yard pass to a moving target, while having to deal with all the human traffic around him?

John Brodie is the only one who ever did both.

And most only play because Mom said "no football for you!"

I know from experience. But I was so dead set against soccer, so she said "Fine, I'm putting you in Cub Scouts" -- yeah that worked out well. The entire scout meeting every week, I would just try to get kids to go outside and play football.

Then there was my father and the Pine Derby incident... but that's another topic.

If the question really is which is "harder," to be an NFL quarterback (assuming starter, so top 32) or a PGA pro (top 32), the answer has to be QB. Don't let the physics of the golf swing and the objectively detailed nature of the game fool you: golf is certainly more technical than football. But that's not the question.

To be an NFL quarterback not only takes a certain freak-level of physical capacity, but it also takes almost unfathomable toughness, skill and high-level mental capacity. A golfer getting to walk the course with his caddy and think over his next shot for 10 minutes, even with all of the pressure in the world on his shoulders, is really nothing compared to having to execute a game-winning drive against 11 other freaks-of-nature who have the sole goal of trying to remove your head from your shoulders. Imagine 4 men weighing a combined 1200 lbs running at you full-steam as you stand over a 10 foot putt for birdie.

Most complete athletes? Likely Olympic decathletes. Skill, strength, speed and aerobic capacity.

Being a QB doesn't take "freak level physical capacity". You need to be able to move well and have a gun for an arm but nothing compared to a RB or LB. Same with toughness, QBs are known as the "skirts" on a football team compared the guys who break bones all the time. The mental capacity, I'd agree to the extent you need to be a prodigy at rapidly processing spatial situations under extreme pressure and executing precisely.

But, I wouldn't call all this "harder" than doing this,
