This is the most bizarre thing I've come across - re: S300 AMT codes Dallas Golf

Dallas Golf is just as bad as knockoff or counterfeit dealers. This is completely unacceptable. Just because many people won’t know the difference, doesn’t mean customers deserve to be sold crappy or ill fitting merchandise. OEMs should be made aware of this.

Yeah this looks pretty intentional, especially since in this very small sample size we are seeing multiple reports of the same practices. Even the most novice club builders know what makes a proper shaft set

Just an update. Dallas Golf resolved my issue to my satisfaction. I was fair and they were fair.

Wow, quite a find. This is just my initial impression here, and there will likely be someone more knowledgeable that can correct me, but it looks like they trying to create an AMT set from standard Dynamic Golds and getting it backwards, that is unless of course they are doing this on non-AMT Dynamic Golds. Its almost as if someone over there thought they had figured out a sneaky way to get rid of extra Dynamic Gold blanks, and the worst part is what this would do to/for someone that was actually looking for AMT shafts for the performance and weight differences.

AMT's are lighter in the long irons/heavier in the short irons, and assembling a set of DG's like in the OP's picture would actually be the opposite. Assuming the blanks are just standard DG's, hard stepping the longer irons like that would actually make those heavier, which is obviously the opposite of a real AMT set and would negatively impact the player that is looking for the help those provide.

I agree that the absolute best case scenario is they have someone that is either ignorant or malicious building their clubs, in which case they are still liable for employing said person and need to correct the problem immediately. But at worst, they are cutting corners and committing fraud by substituting and misrepresenting products, again either out of ignorance or greed, and neither is acceptable.

How do we know what they were or were not? @Hack Daddy mentioned them not matching known butt codes in the OP, but unless I missed something there was no other clarification as to what they actually were. I'm curious because @dgmusae posted pictures of what appear to be actual True Temper labeled shafts with the same problem as the OP, so what i'd like to know is whether the OP's shafts had the same True Temper shaft band and silk screen down by the tip. Because if they are NOT Dynamic Gold's then that means they are either a different (assumedly cheaper) True Temper shaft that has been fraudulently labeled, or worse, a non-True Temper shaft.

@ Valtiel These were AMT shafts. You might not be able to see it clearly, but the butt label says DGAMTS300-385 (385 is a length code for 6 iron). I bought it because I needed 3 & 4 iron AMT S300 shafts. They both had AMT 6 iron shafts on them. Dallas golf did not mention anything about the shaft other than they were AMT S300. When the seller doesn't say anything about it, you assume they are installed with correct shaft, especially with AMT where the weight of the shaft is different on each irons.

Gotcha, that all makes sense. What i'm wondering then is what shafts @Hack Daddy actually had then and whether or not they were labeled like AMTs.

I was referring to not being able to find the exact butt codes in the forum thread that Howard listed tons of shaft codes.

Make no mistake though, the shafts had a a butt code of AMT. They were not regular DG's that they were trying to manipulate.

Gotcha, thanks for the info! I took the inability to find matching codes to mean that you weren't even sure what they were. But given that they were in fact at least the right model shaft then that feels more like incompetence and less like maliciousness. Still bad though, you can't mess with these shafts like that. Hard stepping the long irons in that way basically makes them closer to a regular DG set. At least they made you whole though.

It's very unlikely to be incompetence, the most likely scenario is they had an abundance of 6 iron shafts (and maybe a couple of other iron shafts) and pieced them together to make full sets. 99.9% sure they knew what they were doing. This isn't some newbie selling homemade iron sets.

You guys that got hosed should invite dallas golf to this thread. Don’t let them off the hook with a partial refund because they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. They’ve screwed many others over that never knew why their clubs never felt right. I’d like to see them explain this rather than just buy their way out of it

I don't think you understand what's going on here.

They knowingly took 6 and 7 iron shafts, and built complete sets. Then, sold them as "new."

So, this is obviously not a great look for Dallas Golf. For those of us that have been around awhile, many of us have gotten some great deals and clubs from Dallas Golf over the years. I certainly have.

When I reached out to them about this, they were very willing to make this right, and they did. I would hope that they learn a lesson about this going forward. I would likely leave this as, those around here will learn about this situation and get some satisfaction. Beyond that, it is what it is.

Like another poster said, it's 14 guys on the internet upset at them. They do tons of business. They'll refund the people that aren't happy, and keep moving forward with their business. What would you like to see happen? Them take out ad space in the NY Times and apologize for hacking together iron sets? Their in the business of liquidating/flipping closed out/old stock products. If people are concerned with warranties and all the such they should buy new oem current line product and keep their receipt. Everyone who has had an issue feels that they were taken care of in a fair manner.

DG made it right to my satisfaction as well. No pushback. Didn't feel the need to get sideaways with them. As many have said, the overwhelming majority of the golfing population can't tell one shaft from the other. Without knowing the whole story, I am not interested in indicting them or hopping on any bandwagon. I settled with them and will now reshaft the irons and move on. At the end of the day, the VR Pro head is amazing and one could argue that the heads alone were worth the sale price. Who knows, the 15 years younger version of me might have been really mad, but in the world these days, we got bigger fish to fry. Stay well everyone.

No I definitely understand, I see that. What i'm saying is that incompetence could factor in based on what @WristySwing said earlier about being ignorant to the importance of the individual differences of discrete length/weight shafts, or a shaft like an AMT with its weight progressions. I agree that it is unlikely, but we don't know for sure that they knowingly did this, unless they have admitted as much. Don't attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity, or however that phrase goes. Either way it is very bad and super unbecoming of a store of any standing.
