Anyone here manage to play this at 46 or 46.25" and gain 10+ yards with out giving up too much on accuracy? Especially high speed guys.

The 2 course I play the most have very tight fairways but a few which you could theoretically miss off the planet and be okay. I'm hitting less than driver most of the time to be in the fairway but on those holes where you can afford to be a little crooked, I'm trying to maximize distance, see if I could manage a birdie or real easy par.

Anyone else do this with success?

Just saw this post from Johnny Wunder.  Looks like Jimmy Walker just put an AutoFlex in his Callaway Paradym TD and his Paradym 3 wood.  Both SF505XX.

Jimmy Walker is the same guy put steel shaft in his driver and 3 wood.  I guess that's not working out so good for him.😛

I have the Rouge TD with the Autoflex setup now in the bag for the second season. I play it at 46 in a sf505X. I was a little concerned about dispersion, but the only reason I don’t hit my target is operator error.  I also am working on the Paradym TD with the same setup. I haven’t had this combo out on the course so I don’t have an accurate read on the combo. The Autoflex works for some and not others. It is very reliable for me and I’ve gain about 10 yards total.

Cool. Yeah a total of 10-12 yards extra is what I'm looking for.. Basically on par 5's, instead of a 4i or 5i left in.. it's a 6i. On a open Par 4, it's a SW instead of a GW, etc.

The course is set up to force you into making decent tee shots in order to have looks at the green. Bad tee shot means almost no chance at GIR, means you scramble a good amount. But on the holes where there's non of that... the course designer is asking you to max send.

Just put an Autoflex 505xx into play for the first time last week and I was super consistent with it, working the ball both ways with ease and finding the center of the face. I was at an unfamiliar course so I didn’t really go after it too hard because I wanted to keep it in play.

Played my home course today and was swinging my normal 95% swing. Hit it perfect all day. I have trouble getting height on the ball, but not anymore.  I’ve been playing with the same group of 12 guys for the last few years and they were all blown away. I was finding places on the course that I’ve never been. Probably averaged 330 yards today.

I’m curious if there’s anymore distance left in this thing by taking a little bit of spin off. Have any of you noticed a spin difference by adding or losing weight in the head? I’m playing a stock weight rouge st ls right now, playing at 46”.

What ball do you play? Try a Pro V1X left dash or Callaway Chrome Soft X LS.

You hitting it good and just being little bit too greedy like all of us.😄

You already using a low spin ball, changing head weight may not benefit much at all.  It's probably easier to lower the loft of your driver.

I’m beyond excited with the results I got! It’s just always really windy in my area and I want to make sure my spin doesn’t get too high.

One other thing to note on the Autoflex is that it almost feels like I’m using a swing trainer like an orange whip and it keeps my tempo consistent. I’ve never had a club that’s this fun to swing.

Just bought a 505X, with a Titleist adapter, 45.75. Fitting/trying options are very limited here. Can you guys give me any tips on what driverhead comes closest to getting the swing weight right? Not brand dependend. Buying 4-5 heads is not an option at this time. Thanks! This thread is awesome.

Going down this rabbit hole for the first time.

picked up a rainbow 505x, that’s 44.5” long from tip to end of shaft (ungripped) and have an OG M2 head, which is 193g heavy with just the screw in.

does this sound like a decent starting point to you guys? I’d describe my swing as smooth tempo with chs in the low 100s

It does to me, especially the length of the shaft. Should work good with that head weight.

You definitely need to play with the head weight. I've been playing the 505 in my Gen 4 for 2 years now. I played with the weighting as well and I get the best results with a head weight of 206g at 45".

Picked up one that was 44.25” and plays exactly 45” in my driver. Stealth+ 10.5*

picked up about 5-7 yards distance but the big factor here was consistency. 71% fairways hit over the last 5 rounds. Compared to just 46% over the past year. No swing changes.

basically I’m sold. Just bought an uncut iron shaft to try in my 5 iron. If that works, most likely the entire bag will be Autoflex. Expensive yes. But if the results speak for themselves then I don’t give a crap about how much. Confidence can be bought.

They dont. Im playing the G425 Max on a 405 no problem. Gained 20+ yards and got way more accurate. The tempo at the top is the key. It bleeds into the rest of the bag as well. Definitely a good thing. I love mine.

Not just for you two guys but I noticed you are playing different models. How are you guys deciding which one to get? Are you getting fitted or picking off of specs? Seems like plenty of players go to a stiffer flex than what the fitting parameters suggest. Do the 405 and 505 feel a lot different?

I based my decision on what I read here on this thread when it started. Also exchanged several PM's with @My2Dogs and he was a big help. I ended up going a flex higher than what my swing speed called for, mainly because I have a quick transition.

REALLY glad I did to because after I had mine for a while. A buddy at my club got the SF405. I tried hitting it and couldn't keep it on the planet. Just right right and more right.

What you are saying makes total sense. It sounds like you made the right call. I often wonder what it would be like to have the 505 vs the 405. The 405 with the G425 head is whippy. You really have to be patient at the top and really let it load. The rest is effortless. The 505 may be less whippy with the same setup and probably would be a rocket launcher. Its tempting to buy a 505 to try it out.

My swing speed runs about 100 to 105 tops so I depend on rollout to get yardage. This setup works very well for me. Having driver as the easiest club in the bag to hit is a nice feeling.

The shaft was originally made for the Asian market where they don’t swing as fast or as hard as other parts of the world.  A lot depends on the player as well and how their swing is but general rule is to go up a flex.  The lighter the shaft, even going up a flex is not as stiff as staying in a heavier weight and flex.

also why you see a lot on the Champions tour because they don’t swing it as fast as the PGA guys.  Not saying you can’t have a fast swing and the shaft be useful but usually when you swing it 120+ distance is not your main concern.

Guys I'm a believer! I tried one out Monday in a fitting ... Fitter and I were both blown away.

It wasn't even properly set up because we could only play it at 45.5" and the head was a TSR2 (to compare apples to apples with my fit club) and I gained 6mph of ball speed instantly. My spin kicked up a bit which is what kept it at about the same distance as the fit club but I was honestly shocked. I hit 170 ball for the first time ever and I know I could get even more if it was set up correctly. This was the 505x too... At 120mph (quad speed) I think the xx would be even better.

I'm seriously considering buying an xx and something like a SIM to see if I could get spin closer to 2100 - 2200.

Is the shaft designed to be played at the legal max of 46 inches to get the most out of it or are results similar at 45.5- or 45-inch playing lengths?

Everyone is a bit different.  I know some who have played it at 47 raw length, I play it at 46 and some play it at 45.5 and 45.  It depends how well you strike it and what length feels comfortable for you.  You kinda have to play around to find the perfect length for yourself.  Usually whatever your normal length is, works but I would always try and little longer at first.  You can always cut it down if you find it too long.

I should be clear here, my max swing speed is just over 100 on average and up to 105 on a good day, maxing it out, but with a regular shaft and I do not remember the clubhead, with little to no control. Lol I'm no long hitter for sure.

I do not know what the speed is with the Autoflex right now, but I can say that it does not require me to really turn hard to get an excellent result. I probably use 80% effort most of the time and get the job done nicely. And by that I mean I hit it out there around 250ish. Accurately. Autoflex made that possible. For me anyways.
