For most folks with higher swing speeds it's always been a trade-off between distance and control. I switched from an Accra TZ6 that was as good as anything I've ever swung in a driver for a Ventus Black. As a Fuji guy I had to give the Ventus a try. I lost about 2 yards in total distance, but gained double digits in FW Hit %. I know most in here are looking for every half-inch in distance they can muster and I can't say I haven't been in the same "distance trumps all" boat. But like @bladehuntermentioned earlier, the Velacore helps return the face to square at impact, and that helps everyone! With this shaft it IS possible to gain accuracy without losing significant distance, so give it a try. Just look at the number of men and women who are playing for a check who put one in the bag last year.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I replaced the Tour AD TP-7S in my driver at the end of the season with a Ventus Blue 6S and was amazed at how good it was.

Even with the colder and softer conditions I hit a couple of the longest drives I hit all year with it.

I'm tempted to give the hybrid shaft a shot in my driving iron.

What’s your swing speed? I also play a 7s in driver and I’m wondering if a 6s or 7s would be better in a Ventus

Just my opinion, the shaft is so stable, go with lower weight in drivery, 6s would still be plenty.  Good luck with testing.  Can always tip it if needed as well.

I'm right around 100 mph with the driver.

I don't usually do well with sub-70 gram shafts but I took a flier on the Ventus and it has worked out really well.

I purchased a Ventus blue for my G410 LST and have been impressed with it for sure.  With that said, I find myself wondering if the Velocore is such a revolutionary technique in shaft making then won't we see Fujikura utilize it in all of their new top tier shafts?  Just something i've been wondering.

I have the blue in driver 6x, FW 7x and utility 9x (HB version) and I find them all to be mid-low launching with great feel and consistency. I would caution people about immediately gravitating to the black. If you don't need extreme low launch, that might not be the right match, and you'll be sacrificing feel.

Ha! Just pulled the trigger on the same

9x hyb at 0.5”, 40.25” playing length all in blue Velocore

  • Nick_E changed the title to Buy a Ventus w/ Velocore not a new driver

I know everyone raves about Ventus Black and Blue, but I don't know why Red doesn't get more love.

I play the Ventus Red 6X in a Callaway Rogue Sub-Zero and that combo is long! I'm not on the high end of clubhead speed but I'm probably 110-112 on the regular. I did see Adam Scott switched to Ventus Red at one point, don't know if he's still in it.

I splurged and took the leap and bought a ventus for my g410 lst.  I bought a ventus blue 6x, tipped .25 playing at 46.5.

Update:  it is a ventus with Velocore, not an oem Ventus.  Velacore is the key difference.  A regular oem Ventus are not even the same shaft.  Too bad they allowed the name to be used.

Hit it for the first time today.  Just wow!!!  I've heard the buzz, and didn't know if it would live up to it but it did that and more.

The extra length took a few swing to get used to, but the shaft just delivers the club every time.  I never felt so confident swinging a driver.  Its not the driver head either as I've tried 2 other shafts and they weren't even close.

Loved the ball flight and the shaft felt lively but still very controllable.

If you're think about Ventus do it.  Its the best money I've ever spent in golf.

If you're looking to buy a new driver Id say find a year or two older model, like the g410 lst, and just buy the head.  Then get yourself a ventus.   It'll be about the cost of a new driver but in my opinion a way better option.

Going to put in on qcquad to see numbers, but expect to see tighter dispersion and ball speed.

Also Will Peoples golf does a great job and would highly recommend for the Ventus.

That's got to be one heavy driver!

I have an almost identical setup. 6 S untipped at 45" and had to buy a lighter back weight to get it to D4.

@ the OP  why did you only tip it .25" if you dont mind me asking. From what I understand, tipping under an 1" doesnt really make a hell of a difference for most people. Just curious what your fitting process was there.

I've got a 3 or 8 gram weight i can use instead of the 12.  I haven't got it checked yet for swing weight.

There was no exact science to it.  I see typically a .5 tip from driver to 3w.  I wanted a longer shaft playing at 46.75.  That is a correction as I stated before 46.5.  I wanted a very small adjustment to accommodate the extra length.  I didn't want to lower launch with extra tipping.  Did it really make a difference, who knows.  I could have gone .5 or more, but I can't add tipping but can't take it away.

So I went conservative knowing I could chnage it later to more tipping if necessary.

I'm notorious for tipping. As a fader, I use tipping to keep spin down. The ventus blue (and probably black) don't need much tipping.

yeah, I tip every driver shaft I have. Some of my older shafts were a full 1.5" tipping. It really just depends on what you are hitting and what you are looking for out of it. Benefits of tipping. There are some shafts though that are made to be tipped when they are built properly.

For guys with G410s, any idea what swingweight a 6X blue or red playing at 44.5 would be? Then if you've gone to a lighter weight, have you lost ballspeed?

Keep in mind swing weight is just the balance point of how it feels.  Four things contribute to it

Weight of the club head
Weight of the grip
Weight of the shaft
Length of the golf club

You can adjust club head in 410 by adding different weight sizes (3 to 18 gram).  You can add shaft butt weights.  Even grip weight matters.  End of the day swing weight can be adjusted for what you need within reason.  Going up or down points should be easy.  For example, all it takes to make a golf club go from a D2 to a D3 rating is about .07 ounces or 2 grams in the club head.
