Hit this couple weeks ago Epic Max , picked up 15 yards carry , sounds and feels better then previous Epic Flash which I never liked

awesome looking head

I find this hard to believe unless your current driver is very poorly fitted to your swing.

That's a lot of versions and looks like tour players won't be using anything with a rear track.  My guess is the Epic Speed LS Triple Diamond will be their club of choice.

I think it has to do with the lie angle differences.  I’ve discovered in the last few months that I’m very sensitive to lie angle, even in my woods. Probably one of the reasons I’ve never had sustained success with TM woods.

My M6 3wd was a hook machine unless I gripped down so it sat levelish.  Impact moved to the middle, way less hooks.  Got a Mavrik SZ and can play it at stock length no problem.  Waiting till Tuesday for my EFSZ to get here to see if I see the same effect with the driver but I suspect I will.

Callaway's sub zero line has flatter lie angles than their other clubs.

So are they using 'Max' as in the most forgiving model Max like the Maverik - or like Ping and TM and etc do. Or is 'Max' just now what it's called?

So it the 'Max LS' a low spin MAX FORGIVENESS head? Or...

Interesting that there is only the 2 bars for the speed frame instead of 4. Must be to make room for the weight in front.

I started a thread on this a few months ago and someone within that thread (or somewhere else I have read it) mentioned that the 4 jailbreak bars make a rectangle this year. The 4 bars shown on the other models were just to remind/show that the tech is there, but the bars run both verticle and horizontal for this year's models. If that's true, I would assume the 4 bars were lowered to 2 in order to make room for that weight up front. I guess we'll see very soon.

I know what the inside looks like. It is different from even that and hard to describe. But they are not bars That is for sure..

the fact that there are 3 different triple diamond models is a bit off-putting. there's the 3 standard models and 3 TD models, and that's it so far.

Remember the high number of Mavrik models? This is in part because Callaway believes the future is bespoke club faces thanks to their AI computer learning abilities.

I would say both Speed models have the cyclone head shape. Version 1 has 1 weight and 4 JBF posts probably mid-low spin while Version 2 has 2 weights and 2 JBF posts probably low spin.

New Callaway is the old Taylormade with how many tour heads they end up having on top of the retail offerings the pros never use. I'll stick to the other OEMs

it’s odd to me how people complain when there’s too much choice or too little choice.

Callaway believe the way of the future will be AI created bespoke club faces designed to the exact needs of a specific player based on their launch conditions. I think you’re seeing some of this technology in the plethora of tour only heads they are putting on the conforming list.

In a perfect world and maybe in the distant future we will go for fittings and heads will be custom ordered based on our strike patterns.  Seems to be the direction it's going.

From the looks of it, it was nothing to write home about. Seems like the last 5 Callaway drivers have all been the same with a different paint scheme.

GBB Epic introduced the Jailbreak technology. Rogue came next where they redesigned the bars to be lighter and Rogue was much more forgiving as advertised. Epic Flash introduced the AI face. More ball speed on center & off center strikes. Mavrik was the Rogue moving forward. Next generation AI face and drastically improved acoustics. Looks here like Epic Speed/Max introduces the next generation of Jailbreak, along with much needed improvement in acoustics for the Epic line by way of those ridges on the back right. Two driver families updating in alternate years. XR16/Rogue/Mavrik and GBB Epic/ Epic Flash/Epic Speed/Max. Notable technological upgrades in each iteration of each line. One might argue that all the upgrades amount to little upgrade in the way of performance. That's if you're only looking at it in terms of raw distance. However improvements have been made, depending on preference, in shape, color and sound/feel. But each driver differs in the ways I listed.

So basically it is the same as the Taylor Made or pick any other OEM concept, add colors, bells, whistles, BS marketing add ons and $50 with no discernable difference in distance or performance. I think we all know by now, unless you have access to tour quality launch monitors and tools, us mortals can't maximize all this anyway. Mute the sound one year, make it pop another. Makes us think it is something unique and different while nothing really changes. If these new drivers every year, or multiple drivers a year were that different, the pros would play the best performing instead of what they are contractually required to play. Heck, half of them are playing "tour" heads that most of us have to pay double just to put our hands on tour van rejects. Marketing is a wonderful thing. These "leaked" pics are them sending them to every club pro weeks early so they can tout them to their membership prior to public release. I can't fault them for trying, but I don't usually buy into the BS.
