TM has muddied the waters and i dont think ths is good......the TP5X and TP5 are almost the same ball now.... to me, its strange that TM radicaly changed the TP5X.......not that its a bad ball or anything but its way too close to the TP5 now,,,,,

Interesting.

I was an old TP5 user. And am a 2021 TP5X user. And the difference is exactly what i wanted and hoped for - and perhaps somewhere midway between the two 2019 model variants.

But: seeing as the new TP5 is a bit firmer than the outgoing model - the differential on the current line up is clearly closer than it was previously.

Great if one now fits. Not so good if it doesn’t and both are as similar as you say……

What now for you ?

i moved to the new ProV1......its been amazing so far.....feels like the 2019 TP5 (wich was one of my favorite balls), but is slightly longer for me, ~ 7 yards but around the green (50 yards and in), its been a big difference.    This is just a guess, but I do not think the 5 layered ball is as reactive on soft shots for me.  The Prov1 is doing everything for me and i love it

Used the new TP5x yesterday for the first time (here in Oz)

Really good all round ball, didn't necessarily see any durability issues as others have mentioned.

I did feel that it was shorter than I'd expected. Lately I've usually been a ProV1x user and noticed that on many shots (irons and woods) the TP5x was a little shorter (10m on drives, 3-5 on mid and short irons).

I will say that the greenside spin is far better with this version than previous.

Will use a few more times to see if this was a one off (bad day) or if it's a trend...

You lost 10 meters on your drives by using the TP5X? Sorry, but no.

I've put the 2021 TP5X into my bag over the last couple rounds. They definitely scuff / get cut easily, especially on full wedge shots. Disappointing. I still like them in general, but will probably do some trial and error with others as of a result of the lack of durability.

I agree played one for the first time Saturday loved the ball but wow did it scuff up bad. Going to compare with Bx on Wednesday

So disappointing to read what TM has done with my beloved TP5X. It’s been my favorite ball the past 4 years and now I have no desire to even try the 21 version. The 19 version was darn near perfect. Could’ve used another 4-500 rpm on wedges but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

This year I switched to Bx and CS X LS. Both feel similar to 19 TP5X. BX and CS x LS both hold their lines much better in wind which is a huge bonus.  Bx gives me a little more green side spin but CS gives me a hair more distance. Splitting hairs between the two for my game.  But I don’t get the nice high launch like the 19 TP5X. Bummer.

It sounds like there will be a third ball in the TP5 series, just like the ProV1 and CS. I hope it comes to fruition.

TP5XX-LS 🤷‍♂️

Be magic if they could maintain current 21-X green side spin…..I find the 1-hop and stop awesome with this ball. BUT drop the RPM somewhere in the 200-300 range on the driver.

I so hope you’re right. Staunch TM ball fan here too…..

Loved the 2019 TP5 but recently just getting too much spin on short irons and wedges to the point its a problem.  Tried the 21 TP5X and really like it but wasnt happy with the scuff marks from hitting a wedge or from the sand.  Going to give the Tour BX a go and see what happens.

You sound a lot like me... I played the Tour BX last year... The durability of the 21 ProV1X is incredible. I feel like Titleist finally got the aerodynamics right to be a decent wind ball too.

I gave the 21 TP5X 5 rounds of playing and have decided it does not suit me.

I have never been a Titleist fan, but found the 21 ProV1x fits really well.

I was recommended the 21 TP5X (previously played 19ProV1) to improve the launch & lower the spin on my driver. Took a sleeve to the chipping green today, just couldn't get on with the firm feel & lack of spin around the greens.

Tried against the 21 ProV1X which to me feels softer of the face and seemed to spin substantially more around the greens.

I have not yet tried it with the Driver (which is what it was recommended to me for) but the lack of feel and spin around the greens is less than ideal.

Question is... does the 21 TP5X preform that well off the tee? High launch/low spin?

A mess...

I found it did perform very well off the tee and with irons had durability issues for me and definitely not as spinny around the greens as pro v1x. In my opinion best high launch low spin ball off the tee is Bridgestone bx and also I find it spinnier around the greens. Still won't be as spinny as pro v 1x but closer.

Thanks, will grab a sleeve of the Bridgestone BX and see how they go. If I can get close to ProV1X feel/spin around the greens, I would pretty happy.

Was eagerly awaiting the new TP5X but am disappointed so far. I only put it in play for a couple of holes on the weekend but took it straight back out. I was hoping for a softer feeling 2019 version and while it does feel softer it’s not in a good way. It’s lost all of its firmness and it feels “light” off the club face. I prefer something that feels heavier. I guess you could say firmer?

Going to stick with the Chrome Soft X LS for now and see what happens

Is there an equivalent to the original penta TP balls? Is the TP5 the same as that one?

I've been using the TP5X since it came out...love it.

Tried the 2019 in yellow and the durability was terrible...really scuffed up after a few holes. Went back to the white.

Grabbed the new version of the yellow this week and just used it today for first time. One ball for 18 with zero durability issues.

I played the 2019 TP5x yesterday and had this particular ball in play for approx. 5 holes.  Hit an 8 iron approach into a raised green with a deep bunker on the left.  The ball hit the top lip of the bunker, bounced up and came to rest in some deep rough (may have hit a rock or something hard).  chipped out and when lining up my putt I saw a cut on the ball that the urethane cover actually had a little "flap" that was coming up.  I guess even the most durable balls get cut or damaged depending upon what it hits.  If you want to be able to play a ball with a urethane cover that gives you good performance around the green, by nature of the material, you will get cuts and scuffs.  If you want to be able to play a ball for 36+ holes play a 3 piece surlyn covered Callaway Diablo Tour.  They look like new after 36 holes but you give up the some of the checking performance on the green.

What now for you ?

the 2021 TP5 is softer than the 2019 version.....the 2021 TP5X is almost the same as the 2019 TP5, compression wise. I confirmed this with TM on Friday....the new TP5 is 86 compression.....2019 it was 90...,

the TP5x is down from 97 to 90.

I think this is to do with the 2021 ball?  I agree the 2019 was great and Ive stocked up now they are on runout as I wasnt happy with the durability issues I had with the new balls.
