Theres plenty of information about what happened in Rorys situation. Same embedded issue but handled differently especially since his ball didn’t bounce. Two totally different things.

No, not really different in the context of all the stuff you were making up and taking after Reed about.  Rory notified his FC, then moved the ball himself, made his own inspection, didn't call over an official, took his own drop - you'd be losing you mind if Reed did that.

Well, you said the entire world (even though it wasn’t) was waiting for a scenario where a ball embeds on a bounce...and in one day...you got two. Coincidence?  Probably not.

I’ll admit I’m surprised because no one has ever been able to remember another scenario like what we saw yesterday in the rough

LOL, just saw the video.  Rory's ball ............... bounced and was ................ embedded ................ and no call for a ruling!

Exactly and properly the way the Tour and Rules contemplate that should happen.  But call over an official, go off best evidence and all sorts of twitterpation, lol.

Of all people, Todd Lewis had the most reasonable take from GC this morning.  Heck, when they had Shane Ryan on he wasn't even going where the haters were going, that's saying something, lol.

I wasn’t aware of nor had I seen the video at that time, everything I’d read was that his ball didn’t bounce. The video was finally shown just before the broadcast started.

For the third time in 2 pages, the two are much more similar than I thought and I am fine with the take that the rulings are okay. I don’t think either situation was handled well by the players involved but that’s more to do with the rule and the way embedded balls are treated and something the Tour should look at.

I can admit the mistake on my end.

Well she was right to point that out. Media probably ignores the Rory drop if she didn’t stick up for her husband

I would say it probably happens more often than that. As has been the debate for a while now, the whole televised TV coverage, slo mo, etc is just an element that only exist in small numbers. Big names get the coverage, the rest are left to go unspoken about.  In all the other scenarios, everyone is just left to speculation. Take away the name, take away the camera...it’s not even talked about.

Ken Tackett originally said he would have liked Reed to let the official inspect his ball before removing it. Then the Tour’s PR got involved and tried to smooth that statement over. Just like how Slugger White tried to tell everyone how much of a gentleman Reed was at the Hero in 2019. If you are taking relief in a scenario that isn’t clear to the rest of the field on camera or in person, you should call an official over first. There’s too much at stake for the players and those that are betting on the players.

Taking player history into account of whether one cheated or not is simply allowing your beliefs to disguise the facts presented.

Actually it is just how humans navigate the world. Humans are not passive watchers, we use our knowledge of the world to inform us on what to be prepared for next. Predicting the future based on past events is one of the critical survival instincts just about any animal including humans have. A multiple time cheater is more like to cheat again. Even in many courts of law past behaviour is valid evidence to arrive at a ruling.

Yes if I was the ruling official I would need to ignore facts outside of the present, but as a fan/viewer I can use a broader set of facts to determine my view including past behaviour. I think he likely cheated, however I don't think there is evidence to penalise him.

So it seems a safe bet Adam is still using his army golf shaft today?

I can see him fiddling with putters, but driver . . . . aaaargh.

I think some players are scrambling, some because they were just never long, and father time is getting a few too. Anyone know if that driver length is longer than his previous setup?  Could very well be a contributing factor too.

It's that new supersized thing so yes, I think significantly longer shaft.

That’s really something the tour needs to address IMO. Not on the players. They get caught between getting a ruling on everything and pace of play. If they are gonna allow gambling, it’s a pill they need to swallow and take care of. Get 18 traveling marshalls, or how ever many it takes to get one on the spot in a short amount of time.  They get volunteers for everything else, I’m sure they could manage here too.
