Maxfli Tour balls

If you go to the DSG or GG page for the balls, there is a video discussing the changes to the balls.  Mainly changes to the cores.  The guy talking calls the older balls the "2020" models.  I haven't seen anyone cut either of the 2021 balls in half yet but if the images on the back of the boxes are close to accurate, the core of the 2021 X is much larger than the core of the 2019 X.

Pretty sure mygo**spy did cut them in half.

I have not played the 19 version, but did buy a dozen each of the 21 version.  Just pulled one of each out and yes there is a visible seam.

Yes there is a smallish visible seam on both tour and tour x balls.  It doesn't look as big as the snell seam.

Have been using the 2019 Tour X in matte all year. Was finally getting low and picked up a dozen of the 2021 Tour X in gloss since I couldn't find anymore of the 2019 in matte at my local Dick's. Have yet to play the 2021, but playing around on my putting mat at home and chipping around the yard they feel nice. FWIW, I also float tested them with the Epsom salt method and found the percentage of well balanced balls were much higher than the 3 dozen I tested on the 2019's. I got 6 out of 12 that I considered balanced. IIRC I got 8 out of 36 from the 2019's that I considered balanced.

I know there is a lot of talk about matte balls producing less spin around the greens, but I got a TON of spin out of the 2019 Tour X matte my last round. To be far I was using brand new wedges, so it's tough to compare when I've been using worn out wedges up until now. But I had pitch shots checking up great all day and even spun one back 20' on a 94 yard shot with my 54* wedge. I've NEVER spun a ball back before. Anxious to give the 2021 X's a run.

I did the same. Picked up a couple of dozen of the 2021 Tour and did the float test to see how the new "lines" worked. All 24 of the balls floated with no out of balance detected. So I guess the lines are still worthwhile even if the ball is balanced.

I did have 3 of the 2019 balls leftover and floated them - 1 was noticeably out of balance so I marked the high spot and played a few holes with that ball later in the day. I tried the high spot on the top, bottom, and both sides several times. I could not see any difference in performance off the tee or on the green. Sample size is small but I am guessing that my game would not see a change.

Love the 2021 and I am getting used to the lines.

I'm not sure I benefit at all from float testing and making my own lines on each ball based on the high spot. If I cannot determine a high spot I put my line right through the alignment aid as I like a nice long solid line. It does add a bit of confidence, so that cannot hurt. The funny thing is that of all 4 dozen balls I've float tested I cannot remember one that had the balance point at or really close to the alignment aid. Pretty random where the balance point for out of balance balls would end up. But the 2021 version seem to be better balanced overall.

Either way, as a high capper I'm happy with these balls and plan to continue playing them for the foreseeable future.

I haven't tried the new versions yet (price increase, I have plenty of other balls right now, etc.).  Anyways, I noticed recently that even online they are not offering them in any color but the gloss white.  I'm pretty sure they had yellow and matte white available earlier in the year.  Matte green was never available for the new balls and isn't on the conforming list.

Finally got through my supply of 2019 Tour X balls and have now played about 3 rounds with the new 2021 ball.  I am impressed.  I liked the '19 ball just fine, lots of spin, excellent distance and pretty good feel.  The '21 ball is definitely a step up.  Spin is slightly better (subjective opinion) and I do know the distance is greatly improved, like 8 or 9 yards better.  There are a couple of fairway bunkers on my home track that were out of reach but not so much now.  I find I have to play away from those same bunkers.

Along with the spin and distance the ball just feels better off the driver.  It feels a touch softer without being mushy.  I'm certainly happy to be playing the '21 version of the Maxfli Tour X, especially at $30 a dozen.  I can afford the higher price balls but these are working quite well for me.

I hate the 21 isn’t available in yellow.  I like the Maxfli yellow and played the 19 yellow quite a bit.   Will likely buy left over stock of yellow 19s

They are on the conforming list which means they were submitted and I'm like 95% sure that they were selling them at least online before so it may just be a supply issue.  They appear to have abandoned the matte green (my favorite) altogether.

According to Britt at Golfworks, yellow and matte white are coming, the expected delivery is August but that is subject to shipping issues.

I just picked up two more dozen of the matte green at dicks yesterday.  I had 10 dollar off and a gift card.  I also notice when i walk into the local stores the 2019 stocks are dwindling thus wanted to snatch some more up before they are completely gone.  Now have 2.5 dozen of the green and 1 of the yellow in my stockpile.

I want to try the 2021 but I want yellow or green, love the green, they stand out like glowing orbs in the grass lol.  Also love the matte look.

Trying the 2019 Tours in green today ... got them delivered frm DSG

Been playing Oncore Snell TP5x in that order over the past year ... thot I'd try these while waiting for Snell yellows to get across the pond ...

Really like TP5x but I can not force $48 p/ dozen

Try the practice TP5X practice balls if you don't mind the word practice on the ball.  "Practice" is a little less noticeable on the Pix versions.  They are usually available for between $19.99 and $22.99 (may have to buy a certain amount to qualify for free shipping) if you get them bagged as opposed to in the official box.  I got a bunch from golfdiscount.com a while back.  I think that if you get them in the official TM box that it's similar to ProV1/x practice balls: a mixture of regular and X with no way of knowing how many of each and what year the balls are until you open the box.

This is encouraging. I'm looking forward to playing the '21 Tour X's.

I'm not good enough to tell the diff ... they're just as long, stop just as well & are just as durable as any of the big boys

I've played 3 small DTC balls over the last year or so & you can't go wrong w Maxfli Tour OnCore Elixer or esp Snell Black

I'll still play Snell as soon as I can restocked w yellers
