Titleist TS2 16.5* looking for your opinion...

I’m a LH player, so I don’t have a lot of options when it comes to a 4 wood.

66 years old, driver SS is about 88mph. I currently play a 15* Rogue with a very light regular flex shaft (Quaranta 50) and it has been a very good club for me.

I’m thinking of going 4-7 wood though, as my 3 hybrid isn’t launching high enough. Tough to hold a green from 180 hitting low bullets.

My question is to anyone who has hit/owns the TS2 16.5*. How do you like it as far as distance and forgiveness? I’m not concerned about working the ball, just looking for a high straight ball flight, going around 200 yards. I ordered mine with the Kuro Kage R shaft.

Thoughts?

Excellent club. It does exactly what you are looking for. Launches high, with good distance.

I owned one at 16.5*, but moved to the TS3 because the TS2 launched a little too high for me. That said, it was the easiest Titleist fairway wood to hit that I've played. And, I've played every Titleist fairway wood line since the 910.

I bought a TS2 16.5 at the end of last season. I only got a round in before the snow came, but I liked it a lot. I will probably replace my 3W and 5W with it.

My initial thoughts were that it launched very high, was forgiving, and went about as far as my 3W. From a launch perspective, it played closer to my 5W....high.

This is my 2nd full season with a 16.5 TS2.  I previously had a 16.5 917 F2 and a 17 Rogue 4W.  Mine has the Kuro Kage Black DC in it - reg flex.

The TS2 is stupid easy to launch.  Off the deck, I tend to swing mine like an iron so I lose a bit of distance, but I get a nice, high flight.  It’s a very forgiving club.  I typically get 210-220 out of it.

My buddy has the TS2 16.5 cranked up as high as it will go. Tried it out on the course and fell in love. For reference I play a tee xcg6 at 15* and though it was the best 3 wood ever until I hit the TS2. I have no problem elevating my XCG and it typically goes 220-240 depending on course conditions. The level of consistency I got from the TS2 blew my mind! Shot after shot had the same flight and landed in a tight grouping within a few yards of each other. It was a little bit shorter than my club but I was very impressed with the distance considering it had almost 3 degrees more loft.

I currently have the TS2 16.5 with new Ventus Velocore Red 7 series (71g) "S", playing length is 42.75" in the bag, and 70yrs old.  It's done a fine job until recently when I changed iron shafts and at the same time, put new Ventus Velocore Red 5 series (59g) "S" in the driver.

My driver now is longer, as are my irons with new Tensei AV White AM(2) "S".   At times, my 2i is reaching close behind 16.5, so I am considering going TSi2 15* 3wd.  But until I make that determination, 16.5 will stay in the bag.

Great woods both off the tee and deck. If bombing the ball with height is your aim then Kuro Kage R shaft will be excellent for you. You can always change shafts to suit the trajectory you are after.

I use both 15* and 18* with Graphite Design Tour AD DI. 15* launches with mid penetrating ball flight for maximum distance while 18* is used to attack and hold the green with higher flight that lands softely.

Tested out TSi2 vs TS2 and ended up going with TS2.

It's long with lots of carry, but more importantly it is probably the best all purpose fairway I've had and that includes a lot of the TEE's.  It doesn't seem to force swing adjustments to offset launch or spin issue issues that most other fairways have had for my mid-low launch swing.   I was playing strong 3w and 5w but with the TS2 16.5 the M6 14* is out of the bag and now I'm thinking of replacing the 5w with a TS2 7w .
