Semi-serious answer?  For me it'd be The Open at St. Andrews but only if Ivor Robson announced me at the beginning.  😃

Open at St Andrews for me - followed in vague preference by an Open at Carnoustie, Troon, Muirfield, etc.  Basically, an Open.

 

I'd rather win points on a winning Euro Ryder Cup team than win a PGA Championship 😉

Masters-the annual lifetime invite and dinner with all the traditions.  

US Open-Oakmont, as an American I’ll give it a very slight nod over St. Andrews but it’s close.

I voted for The Open at TOC, although if there is one course where I could choose to win The Open it would be Muirfield. Look at the roster of most recent winners at Muirfield — Player, Nicklaus, Trevino, Watson, Faldo (x2), Els, and Mickelson. Is there any venue that has produced such a stout list of winners than Muirfield has?

Just saw this thread. I had to be the lone Oakland Hills vote. The South course is something special, and it doesn't have to overpower your game with length, it simply demands precise shot placement and can be quite deceptive.

The Open, Carnoustie. Proper 'Open', not invitation, on a proper course playing golf the way it was supposed to be....just like Ben Hogan and Paul Lawrie.

I played Pebble 2 weeks after the Open in 2000 and you could still see where the Open fairways had been vs. the regular set up. You couldn't pay me enough to play that course with U.S. Open rough; I hit 10 or 11 fairways that day, 2 were Open fairways. they looked like paths down the middle of fairway.

 

I've gone way out of my way to play some great course, but I have no interest in the way the set them up for the Pros for the Open. It would take two dozen balls and 8 hours with all the looking in the rough.

For me it has to be The Masters. Augusta National is the one course on the majors rota that is familiar to everyone who follows golf. When I watch it it's almost like the announcer doesn't need to say which hole I'm watching, I know just by looking.
