Best golf polo

How is G/Fore sizing, compared to say, Peter Millar or Travis Mathew?

Here's my anecdote. I have a lot of Peter Millar in my closet and I tried a G/Fore polo for the first time last summer. I ordered the same size in G/Fore that I do in PM (small). The PM smalls fit me a little loose but do not look baggy at all. The G/Fore was a way more "athletic" cut that doesn't look good with my middle-aged "dad bod" body type. It felt tight just above my waist, sleeves were too short, and the placket just looked too long. I returned it and didn't get another. I think it's meant for flat-bellied 20-somethings.

I'm surprised there's so much love for Peter Millar stuff.

I've had about 5-6 pieces of their clothing and I've been consistently disappointed in the quality provided considering the premium price and image. It's nothing special at all. Very similar to mass market Land's End/LL Bean/J. Crew stuff.

Lately I've made several orders with Dunning Golf and I like most of the items I've received. Love the player's pants.

Be careful with their polos though. Oversized compared to Nike etc. Great quality though

I can confirm this for Dunning polos as I've bought a few in the past year. I wear size small in Peter Millar classic fit, which fits me little loose but not baggy. I bought Dunning's small and they are definitely bigger than the PM classic fit smalls, almost too big for me, but I kept them as I liked the styles. If Dunning made an XS I would have returned the smalls and got XS instead.

Heard about a new material shirt through some buddies I play with, brought it and is probably the most comfortable shirt I own. Only down side is there is just the 1 design at the moment, I think they are only a new brand. Took this photo from their website, I don't have any wearing it yet.

When did polyester become a new material?

Or did you join the site just to make this one post plugging a shirt I assume you are selling? 🤣

Anybody comment on the slim fit polos from JL?

Is it a Nice tailored fit, how is length, don’t always like to tuck.

I was looking at the Tour Tech Slim, and the Chad Slim.

Stumbled onto Swannies Golf last year (they started selling apparel at our Club and clothed our Member/Guest).  Great materials and prices.   My golf closet is steadily filling up with their attire.  1/4 zips, hooded sweatshirts, polos and golf tee shirts.  I've got several of each now.  Oh, did I mention GREAT pricing?  (No, I'm not affiliated with them 😀)

Probably been playing in cotton the entire time.

For the curious the new material is: Made from 92% Polyester, 8% Spandex.

About as new as water.

I prefer Travis Matthew for solid shirts, with the slimmer fit. I like Peter Millar for patterned shirts, but don’t love the fit and have to wear tucked in

Greyson is the same way. I have a mix of L's and M's. L's fit the best in the arms/chest/shoulders, but the torso is too long. I'm 6'3" and wear 30 length pants so I have a pretty long torso. Like who actually fits in these things correctly?

I started buying mediums to wear with shorts...

6'3" and wear like 32 length pants that need a hem. Also have a big back and chest so almost any shirt I put my hands above my head suddenly that shirt is a mid riff, so I need to find longer shirts in the torso and arms which hasn't been easy.

With that said back on topic, slowly dropping weight and trying new shirts. Johnnie-O is looking to be a good option for me, Bonobos probably fitting the best right now and going to order more, Peter Millar a few pounds to go before I can get a good idea on the fit for me. Looking at a few new brands but trying to grab them on sale so if I drop more weight they are not super baggy end of the season.

Tbh, never heard of Johnnie-O...I will have to give them a try

Went thru a Johnnie-O phase...expensive and frankly disappointed in the quality for how expensive they are.

I have some much older UA, Millar, etc that are in great shape still, while my Johnnie-O shirts look worn out. Sucks because I love the style, fit and looks.

Polo?  There is talk about "growing the game"; maybe wearing denim shorts, a basketball jersey that is 5 sizes too big and flip-flops will encourage more people to come out to the golf course.

Just what we need, more people on the golf course. Here in Florida, the golf boom during Covid has made membership rates to skyrocket and pace of play has gotten out of control in the peak months.

I love playing golf this time of year with the perfect weather, but the downside is the course is packed with non memeber and snowbirds.

Give me the summer heat where I can get a teetime lat minute and play 18 in 2.5 hours.

I buy a lot of the FJ shirts in the athletic fit and like the fit. The regular FJ shirt fit is terrible.

Just throwing this out here 2ndSwing has a 40% apparel sale right now with some good brands. I picked up a B.Draddy, Dunning and Stitch to try out and another Johnnie-O cause the price was good.

They have some Peter Millar, RLX, etc. Some do have course logos but new and discounted come on.
