I wish I could tell you more. My playing companions and I encountered this scene one day, after the culprits had fled. I kept my eye out for players walking the course unsteadily, with cart bags and wet shorts, but it remains a mystery. The course is in south Louisiana, so alcohol was no doubt a contributing factor...

I've seen a few cart wrecks in my day but I've never seen someone leave one in a pond. 😂

If you put the F/R switch half way, it puts the trans in neutral and they are easier to push. I learned this when one of the "new" carts died at the green of 9. It's only about 30 feet to the club house, but there is a slight hill.

Didn't have to do that, but I had to push back many dead carts back in my day.  Working cart barn and as a starter was a great experience for me though.  Met a lot of my contacts who I still keep in touch with.

Local CC is bisected by railroad tracks.  Ne'erdowells removed a cart from the club cart barn (someone's personal cart) and parked it on the tracks at night.  You can imagine what occurred.  You can still find random metal pieces in the ballast along the tracks if you look.

 

I was passenger in a cart that got stuck in the mud ringing a pond that had dried up some.  Guy I was riding with thought it would be better to attempt to retrieve his ball from the cart.  Sunk it to the floor board.  We got it pulled out and drove it off to the side into the woods and used our undershirts to remove as much mud as we could.  Luckily it was pretty dark when we returned the cart.  We high-tailed it out of there.

 

Last cart issue I was parcel to I was driving.  Another local course has "hills" in the name.  Some steep up and downs.  One particular down there is a sharp curve to the left at the bottom you must negotiate.  Wet cart path, bald tires and steep grade were a recipe for a serious decision to be made.  I feathered the brakes down the hill but started slipping a bit on the pavement.  I had a choice, attempt the turn and keep the cart on the path or go straight off the path and hope the cart stopped before it went into a gully 20-30 yards distant.  I opted to attempt the turn.  Not sure if going straight would have been better but it may have delayed flipping the cart over.  Just as soon as I turned the wheel the tires caught and momentum flopped us right over.  I fell onto the guy riding with me.  Somehow he split his shorts.  We got the cart back upright and got the clubs back on.  Cart smoked the rest of the day but ran.  As we were loading up in the parking another scramble was going off and they were announcing to be careful that the paths were slick and you can easily flip a cart.  A little late to get that info.
