What is wrong with Finau? Besides his general ineptitude, he topped a shot into the water on 17 that was just inexplicable.

They just reported that the tip broke and that Bubba can replace it…?

His caddy is trying to get out the broken bit of the tip.

I could be wrong but if the equipment breaks because of "normal" stuff (like swinging it), it can be replaced. Now if you Bo Jackson that thing, you gotta live with it.

Think there are any pink replacement heads laying around?

That’s correct. Just saw the replay. Looks like the shaft snapped just above the ferrule. So head is fine, tip of shaft and adapter still in the head. Needs a new shaft.

I guess someone is going to get another driver Bubba has onsite. But they’re saying the tip of the old shaft is still stuck inside the head of the driver so we’ll see if he can get it out.

I guess he can’t just swap in a whole new driver because you can only replace the broken bit?

He needs to be very careful or else he'll get DQed.  The equipment replacement rule is needlessly complicated.

I was under the impression that the rule was a player could “replace the broken club”. Don’t think it’s exclusive to a particular part.

Much to my own surprise, I don't find the new rule very complicated and is rather straightforward... He can repair not replace in this instance.

Who can carry the equipment parts, when can they carry them, were they on the course or outside the property, yada, yada, yada... .  All those details and others matter.

Repair, not replace??? So how do you repair and not replace the shaft/adapter? I imagine repair entails taking the old tip off and epoxying on a new one…
