PING i210 replacement when?

Recommended Posts

I've had my i210's since launch and still love them, but these will without a doubt make a run at my bag. Loved the iblades as well and these may be the perfect blend. Even if not, well done Ping on making a great looking club. Hopefully it will be a worth successor of a iron that has been in many bags for years and years!

This has been a long time coming.  I have owned Ping, I5, I20 and now I210s.   What do you Ping experts see here from the early photos?  I realize we have no top line pictures.  What is going to make this iron comparable or better than the I210?

I'd bet a penny on 5-15% increase in MOI and they'll produce more ballspeed as well.

I'm really curious if the body will be something other than stainless, like the Glide 4.0's.

Meronk won last night, so that's the maiden victory for i230 if I'm not mistaken.

That didn't take long…

RogueST 9@11º 3D (ADDI 6X), 425 3w 14.5º (TourX), 430 3h 19º & 4 iCross (HZRDUS Red 6.0), i230 5-U, G4 54º, GFP 59º (DART105F4). 2021 Fetch (BGT Tour Black).

"Golf is just a dance with a stick, and a ball tells you how good a dancer you are."  LCP150mm in your fairway should be a full-time rule.

I saw what I saw on TV last night. Now I have to go find it. I think it might have been just a long-iron, but it wasn't an iBlade.

Hatton has just very much been flashing the i230 on Sky Sports over here in the UK during a mid round interview at the Pro AM. I don’t have the rewind/pause ability as streaming while working unfortunately…but from what I could see they have a more rounded profile rather than the sole being considerably wider than the rest of the head as with the i210. They still look like they’ve got a considerable amount of “help” but I’d say the sole doesn’t look as wide as the 210. Hopefully someone else has caught this and can take some screenshots!

Funny; I don't care how it looks overall. It just needs to far outperform for its slightly compact size, hit its windows, and stop on the darn green. And hopefully the 4 iron has finally started hitting a better apex.

Really hoping John K has stayed away from the design of these. There does not need to be a change to the traditional I series chassis. Keep the same sole width. Keep the high MOI. Keep the same offset. I would like to see the CofG lower.

If you are wanting a smaller iron you can play the i59.

Thinking the same thing. Keep the MOI nice and high, but drive down that vertical CoG which would be beneficial for those slightly thin hits.

If they can bring it down to S55 levels (~0.8) or lower (i5s had 0.733), that would help my thin strikes. The ZX7 have 0.786 but their MOI is nowhere near the i210s.

The grooves on the i59 suck and the offset on them is atrocious. I’ll pass

Hopefully they’re not $250 a club with the way things are going with them. Ugh

Agreed. Ping is going wild with these prices lately, as bad as I want a set of Glide 4.0’s I can’t justify spending $600 on a set of wedges.

who am I kidding I’ll end up buying them anyways

The Ping reps are taking pre-orders from the golf shops in late June. Prices and availability will be quoted to the shops at that time.  Guessing late August availability. This is from a trusted source.

If this is the same iron I saw the patent on it’s not a toe screw like we’ve seen in other models. It’s actually a rod that runs from the heel to the toe with the back of the cavity pressed in similar to the Titleist T200.

I dont think these can be found on the USGA conforming list yet.

I’ve been thinking of these irons for a few years!!!  ZX7’s are shaking in the bag. i59s are gorgeous but overpriced and clicky.  I230s look clean…they just need to live up to AND outperform their successful i210 predecessor.

Based on these initial images, looks like it has a i200/i210 like ctp, if so may not be a huge departure from i210. adding a weight screw might mean they can make it a hair smaller with the same/more moi as they have w g series. i was worried that they would take out the ctp and use a badge instead (not awful in theory but i have more confidence the more the dna stays the same). if it is just an i210 w a weight screw to push moi, that is intriguing.

These look great. If they have iBlade feel with i210 performance, look out. Oh…and a UW is a must.

It's the biggest reason I didn't really give the 59's a look. Need a gap wedge that's consistent for me. I have a 50º wedge, but it's just not a good full-shot option.

Same here. I cannot stand playing a speciality wedge in the gap spot as it's my 125 club.  I never use it around the green, except on certain lies where I'll chip and run it.

I just ordered i59 power spec with an additional PW bent to retro loft.  Best thing I could get Ping to do is etch "Utility" in the hosel.  I'll change the paint fill when it comes in as well.  It'll be a few weeks until I get them but I'll let you know how that goes.

GFP 50* with a back grind would be my 1st choice, if playing i59

GFP & i59 feel eerily similar to me.

that's my second plan if first one doesn't pan out.  I have GFP in 54 and 60.  I don't know what it is (mental obv and my head is a dangerous place 🙂 ) but I am extremely inconsistent with contact / distance control with a specialty gap wedge.  It usually prevents me from enjoying sets without one.  Glide 3.0 didn't pan out for me in a 50.
