PING i210 replacement when?

Hi.

When will PING replace the now old i210 irons

Remember that song “sail”, and how nobody really heard of it for 18 months after it got released, and then Jeb Corliss release that insane “Grinding the Crack” video where he wingsuited about 2 feet off the ground down an entire side of a mountain while “Sail” was playing in the background, and then the song got 2 million views in the next week cause people loved it? Well, you probably don’t remember any of that, but that’s the i210 iron, steady for 18 months, and fasted than John Madden can yell a guttural “booom”, the iron took off, which is all to say the release will be April 23, 2022.

Ping really needs to clean up their iron names. It was much simpler when there was an S, i and G line of irons. i59 should have been named s59.

So then there would be two S59s? Umm...

I love Ping. 12/14 clubs in my bag are Ping right now, but people on Golfwrx who are some of the most educated golf consumers don’t know if i59 replaces blueprint, i210 or iblade. What about i500? Don’t forget G425 and G710...

I think this is a very settled answer.

The Blueprints are a fifth category.

i59 are an iBlade replacement.

i230, due out next year, will replace the i210.

i525, due out next year, will replace the i500

g430 is rumoured to replace the g425, but that's too far out to know.

g710 has no known replacement in the near future.

Do the names suck? Well, it's no Rocketballz, but it's a pretty well known path on WRX.

S lineage has been axed - only thing that wasn't addressed

So you S players are SOL - you'll have to adapt

The S line has been dead for almost a decade now, though.  The S replacement was the iBlade, which is now the i59.

Other than a trademark for i230 there’s been no mention of it from the reps. The i525 is confirmed for next year. Where are you getting the i230 information from?

I kind of agree with you and kind of don't.  The line's are not that hard to follow and Ping has had some weird outliers in the past.  The Rapture, Karsten, Anser, and G Max irons come to mind.  There was a lot of debate about where those sat in the lines previously as well when they were their own stand alone sets.  I feel the i500 and G710 fit into that category now.  You have Anser kinda-sorta like the i500 (i.e. one of the few forged irons Ping ever made) and G700/G710 are clearly SGI irons meant to cater to those that want it as easy as possible or more distance and height with less input.

The Blueprint is an anomaly for sure.  I didn't think I'd see the day Ping made a blade, but it is what it is.  I guess they figured they had an audience for it and the tour pros all flocked to it, so there must be something there.

You can only think that since the naming is i525 it will be released next year when the G425 stuff is still out. It seems like i230 will be released end of next year or early 2023 when they phase out the G425 and bring out the G430 stuff.

Only a guess though based off the naming schemes. I just hope they bring out the Glide 4.0's and a new milled putter range in 2022!

Doubt they will have a raw finish, since they're so in on the hydropearl finishes but a black/stealth finish would be lovely. I picked up a new Glide 2.0 Stealth 60TS last October and I use it more than my raw Vokey Wedgeworks 60T. Wish they would bring back the TS grind from the 2.0!

I just want them to re release the Stealth 2.0 in general....everything about that 2.0 is absolutely 💯 perfect

The i525 was initially going to be released this year which came from

the Ping rep. Because of supply change issues they pushed that and only went with the i59 release.

The i and G releases are typically opposite years so an i230 with a g430 probably wouldn’t happen. Also Ping has done some funky things with naming convention like the ie1 release then back to numbers.

Hopefully the i230 rumors for next year pan out. I liked the i210s when I've tried them but may as well wait. Excited to see what ping comes up with, probably higher moi and slimmed up from i210? Could easily see getting 5-pw and an i525 4 iron. I don't think i59s are for me, the MP 223s seem similar and have caught my eye though.

I would expect a very similar design in overall size, but the toaster weight will be gone. Replaced by a toe screw and some internal design… similar to the i59, but more focused on forgiveness than workability.

More speculatively, I'd expect that the 710 and 4xx line will line up so they can be blended at any club - same with the 59/210. I'm imagining they'll be actively looking to have emphasis on the long-mid irons for the 230s.
