Jaws Full Toe, anyone else disappointed?

First round with my 58-10 wedge today.  Been playing a PM grind Callaway in a 58 for about 5 seasons.  The Jaws Full Toe feels nothing like the PM grind.

 

I will say on full swings the Jaws feels better but around the greens the PM grind is vastly better for my short game technique.  Maybe I assumed I could just throw the new one in the bag and there would be no adjustment but obviously I’m going to have to spend some time learning how to use the Jaws.  
 

Just left Golf Galaxy and regripped my PM in case I end of not using the Jaws.

 

what are anyone else’s impressions?

I haven’t hit the jaws, but it looks much more playable to me.  The PM grind was just to awkward to work for anything except for green side stuff for me.

Maybe that’s why I like the PM so much because it’s the only club I use around the greens.

I liked it around the green and loved it out of the sand.  When I had a 60 to 80 yard shot it made me uncomfortable

Give it more practice and playing time ... figure it out. It's usually the Indian, not the arrow unless a bad grind fit.

Far far from it.  I've been playing the OG PM Grinds and have no doubt after one round that the Jaws FT will knock them out.

 

The Jaws looks fantastic and small next to the PM.  The Jaws face has unbelievable traction.  What really sets it a part is the new C grind.  Yes, it's much better with anything resembling a full shot and still just as adapt from around the green.  But where it's far far superior is from the sand.  Take your PM and Jaws into the trap and see which one comes out the winner.

 

For me, getting use to the lighter weight and different feel is one thing (or two), but the stock UTX grip has got to go.

I am also an OG PM Grind user - 58 and 64. The 64 is pretty much an automatic good to great shot out of greenside bunkers and that was my biggest concern about the Full Toe. You've helped alleviate that, so thanks!

Just placed the order on the Callaway website for a 58*, used reward points and went with the custom Black with Catalyst 100 shaft. Oddly the delivery on the custom was 3-4 weeks faster (still 3-4 weeks) than the stock black set up the same (6-8 weeks).

I'm trying to like it, to me the turf interaction on it just doesn't feel as good as the OG PM grinds and I can't quite as crisp of a strike due to it.  I was expecting better spin production. I'll give it a few more weeks and maybe it'll click and change my mind.

I always found the PM 60° to dig on anything approaching a 3/4 to full shot. Around the green and in the bunker it was fantastic but I needed a little more versatility. I am now curious to try the JAWS FT.

Digging? Try going shallower/wider swing coming down.

Haven't received my 54 yet, but took my 60 out on Saturday, and I hit two of my best bunker shots of the year.  Happy thus far.

Coming from to 2019 PM Grind, I am very pleased so far. Really short high-speed super flops are a little trickier, but pick shots from tight lies are less tricky. Otherwise, it is very similar in my experience without the slightly funky appearance (which never really bothered me, to be clear).

Played 2 rounds with the Jaws Full Toe 60° this weekend. It's in the bag. It's so much more versatile than the PM Grind in that I'm comfortable using it for other shots than just around the green. It was great out of the bunkers for me as well, which was where the PM Grind really shined for me. I really like the C grind on the Full Toe.

Love the shape of these, leading edge, toe etc......HATE that only 12 degree bounce option available on 56 loft and 10 on 60.....yes I know what a C grind is.......

So I picked up a 54 degree and have played two rounds with it so far and not disappointed.  However, I will add that I didn't get it to replace a PM grind.  I still have a PM grind in the 58 that I love around the greens.  I honesty was excited to pick up a 54 jaws full toe because I thought it would "blend better" and not be such a gap between my 50 degree wedge and then the 58 PM grind.  

 

The thing is the PM grind in my opinion is just designed to be played with the face open.  I would never carry a 60 in this wedge because I honestly always play my 58 degree pretty open around the greens.  I don't hit much more than 3/4 swing pitch style shots with it from 60-70 yards.  Anything more than that I go with the 54 degree but I'm comfortable with partial wedges.  In fact I'm more comfortable with partial wedge shots in the higher lofts than I am fuller swings.

 

Haven't tried a lob wedge loft in the new Jaws Full Toe but with the 54 I don't think it's quite as inviting to lay open as the PM grind but on the flip side it's so much more "traditional" looking and pleasing sitting in the natural square position.

How does the C grind on this wedge differ from the X grind on the Mack Daddy 5 wedges?    I know that the C grind is 10 degrees and X grind is 12 degrees, but is there any real difference is playability?

After a few rounds with the Jaws I'm leaving it in the bag.  It did take some getting used to around the green but I figured it out.  I still haven't hit a bunker shot with it yet.

 

So my initial disappointment has shifted to it's in the bag.

I have the 56 & 60 in the chrome finish, stock shaft and grips.  The stock grip is not ideal, need to get these replaced but love the clubs.. I have the 56&60 in black finish that I will return as the chrome finish looks better

Felt good, look great, didn't spin as much as I thought they would. No diff from my PM Grinds.

The new TM Milled Grinds, on the other hand, are pretty impressive. Spin like crazy!

The C Grind is for modern shallow wedge players who like to open the club face.  The X Grind was designed for old school steep wedge players who need more bounce to help counteract their attack angle, but want to play with an open face.  So yes, totally different grinds which play differently and are designed for different players.

Did you try these off a mat?  Because checking and stopping from the rough and sand are not numbers on the launch monitor.  The Jaws FT spins like crazy and I've never had a wedge with this much traction, and that includes square grooves.

I gamed a Jaws regular face 58* for about a week. I’ve played Vokey forever and been trying out different brands. Started off with Cleveland RTX ZipCore.  Now the Jaws. Just not impressed with the “look”. Most likely selling and buying the ZipCore for this degree. 
 

starting to think wedges are like putters. It has to look “nice to your eyes” at address to inspire confidence.

The raw face is pretty cool. I’ve found that it rusts very quickly! I’m still formulating my opinion on their performance as I haven’t played enough with them yet. I feel like I really like the 60 and the 56 wasn’t really necessary. 
 

for what it’s worth, these are way better than the PM Grind. That was a terrible wedge.

58* came today, looks good with the black head and Catalyst 100 shaft. It will get a test drive on Thursday.

I'm not at all disappointed and I also like you carry a PM grind 58 degree.  However, I didn't get the Jaws Full Toe to replace my 58 degree.  I picked up a 54 degree and replaced my MD3 54 degree with it.  Now my 54 and 58 "blend" a bit easier if that makes since.  So far I'm very pleased with the Full Toe.  I got so used to seeing the full face grooves on my 58 that it "looks right" now on my new 54 but yet sits more like a traditional wedge without the funky appearance of the PM Grind.

 

I don't believe the Jaws Full Toe is meant as a replacement for the PM grind.  Now it may convert an "on the fence" person on the PM grind who liked the idea but thought it was too out there.  However, if you like your PM grind around the greens the Full Toe isn't the same style of club.  I've posted this in multiple threads but in my opinion the PM grind is designed to be played with the blade open.  It just sets up SOOOO nice with the blade open and it's so good around the greens.  I couldn't even imagine playing the PM in a 60+ degree with how easy it is to open up the 58 and hit full flops or those dreaded 3-5 yard pitches where you have no room.  The Full Toe isn't the same design so if you like the PM grind for what I described you may be disappointed.  There will be a PM grind refresh next year I'd imagine.  Or just sharpen the grooves, regrip and keep enjoying the one you have.
