Celtic Manor is a farmland hotel/massage parlor. The Belfry's 10th hole is one of the worst pieces of design I can think of. Other than that I'm sure they're great. Meanwhile what we don't get are: St. Andrews, Ballybunion, Porthcawl.

I played the next course in Italy, really average course. Bog standard parkland of very little charm I found, Italy doesn’t have the world’s best courses but apart from conditioning (which was excellent), even in Italy there were 3 or 4 better I played.

In another thread I linked to a Golf Digest article. The Italian Open was there a few weeks ago and the course is still hated after the changes.

The 10th is trash, but it figures you like it. Pros hit 7-iron off the tee there in the Ryder Cup--what a GREAT par-4. So strategic! 🤣
