Golfnow commercial

Random observation but I just have to laugh at these commercials aimed at making golf seem hip and cool for the millennials.  Latest one has 4 people who look like Abercrombie models goofing around on the course, with tag lines like "grab your crew and go clubbing", and "golf: where you nine AND wine".  Or "where you walk on as a single, but ride out with a squad."  It just seems cringeworthy to me.  It feels like something a group of old white guys came up with by sitting in a board room and trying to imitate how the young folks talk.

 

Only bright spot is that the one woman In the commercial (the one wearing the sleeveless top) is just ridiculously hot.  Almost hot enough to forgive the entire commercial, but not quite.

I agree.  Instead of targeting non-golfers, they should target us folks that play a lot of golf but don't use their reservation system.

They certainly hit the current advertising requirements-

 

Young and attractive?  Check.

Multicultural group?  Check.

Multi-gender appeal?  Check.

Cellphone use?  Check.

 

All "right-thinking" people should find that appealing.

Eh, I worked in advertising for a decade. I know how this stuff gets made.

 

This came from a bunch of 30-somethings who think Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicholson are the same person.

Ha I'm not saying they aren't intelligent! Just saying that previous generations aren't always experts on current trends and vice versa.

I like how golf commercials show people playing on an empty course where it is just the foursome out there all by themselves having the time of their lives.  

 

Nothing beats living in fantasyland I guess.

I'd venture to guess that they're targeting the new Covid golfers. They probably try to reach different demographics with different messages/positioning. I'm inclined to believe that people know what they're doing and it's most likely that I don't have complete information. That'd make more sense than me knowing more than hordes of professionals with vast resources doing what they do best🤷‍♂️

My experience is just the opposite. I'm overwhelmed by incompetent people on the roads, in stores, on the phone who haven't got a clue about what they're doing.

 

I'm inclined to believe aliens have sprayed stupid gas on most of the world and they're laughing at us from their little space ships.

According to this documentary the Pottsylvanians (Russians and Nazis) are responsible for the gas.

Simple fix OP. When you see said commercial in question either mute it or temporarily change the channel. You will be less triggered and stressed to complain about it. Especially since you aren't the targeted demographic. Best of luck.

That’s because internet smart isn’t actual smart.  
 

 

not meaning that you’re not smart.  Just in General. You can be smart , and also tech savvy.  And you can be tech illiterate and smart , Or you can be tech savvy and too dumb to change a flat tire.

Get over yourself. You're the one here complaining and getting triggered over a non offensive and completely irrelevant/innocuous television commercial. Based on your original post your you didn't seem to find the commercial in question silly or humorous. You went straight grumpy old man get off my lawn/yelling at clouds based on your own "cringeworthy" words.
