Two things from the LET event in Kenya.

There’s a woman playing in Vibram FiveFingers

https://us.vibram.com

Stanford golf is pretty lenient with letting their players play away from the team. I knew they pretty much let Zhang and Heck play in any other events, but to let Krauter go all the way to Kenya is surprising.

You can do that when your depth is ridiculous!

Looking forward to catching a little LET this weekend, thought the Kenya Open was pretty neat when they had it a couple years ago.

I won't spoil it for you by talking about individual player's performances so far..... but I watched the 3rd round and it was enjoyable viewing, interesting course and lots of wild life inc zebras, giraffes, lizards.

Vs the LPGA though, the player's standards are significantly poorer, only 2 players under par for the event although there was plenty of wind in round 2 apparently so course played tough. In particular, their putting is relatively poor vs LPGA standards.

No worries.  I watch enough LET that I know what I'm getting.  I'm just happy when it pops up on the DVR.  This time of year any golf to watch is good golf.

Now if they could just find a way for the Golf Channel or someone to cheaply license KLPGA and/or JLPGA rights and throw those on in the middle of the night that would be swell.

Are you able to access this YouTube link? (Or is it Geo-blocked in your location?)

“SBS Golf” is a Korean network, that streams the KLPGA “Live”/ on-demand

https://youtube.com/c/SBSGolfnow

Thanks.  I do subscribe to the SBS Golf YouTube channel and have had occasional success watching KLPGA events, but not that many.  Most of that is probably on me, I use YouTube for music but rarely "watch" anything ... default is to see what's on the DVR.

Just finishing up round 2 of the Magical Kenya Open, have to say I rather like the course.  Coverage is the usual couple feature groups for the most part but at least there have been familiar faces (and Aline Krauter).

Out of complete boredom I was checking out the Rolex rankings, noticed something that surprised me a bit so I thought I would share my findings with you all. I truly doubt most of you will care for reasons I won't discuss, but here ya go regardless.

Upon looking through the top 150, I noticed the amount of Euro's and Americans is virtually the same.

The US has 28 players, and Europe has 26.

The US has more inside the top 100 (22) versus (14), but I could easily see Europe adding 3 to 4 this year closing the gap.

Curiosity got the best of me so I even checked the WAGR, I only looked at the top 50 but the Europeans doubled the Americans with 22 vs 10.

Of course I realize the Americans have an edge with higher ranking players such a Nelly, DK, Lexi, Rose Z, Rachel H, but outside that handful it's a pretty even field.

My point being, it appears the European talent pool is pretty decent looking and a bit overlooked. I'll be curious to see how the numbers change following the course of this year.

Euros have pretty good depth but just don't have star power.  With Leona's big jump this week to #20, there are now two Euros in the top 20 (Anna Nordqvist is 15).  Boutier, Hall and Hull are in the top 40.  Anna has a solid legacy with 3 majors as part of her 9 wins, but she's never been a superstar.  Too hot and cold and if she could only chip...

If Leona starts racking up wins and a major or two maybe she leads the next wave of great Euros.  But until then, it's an Asian world and the Americans and Euros are playing catchup.

I agree with your observations, although I don't see Anna staying inside the top 20 for long. Hopefully I'm wrong, I've been a fan forever and feel like her achievements are overlooked by most.

The increase in Euros playing NCAA golf has had an effect. Better competition makes them better and helps WAGR ranking. I think last year’s Euro Curtis Cup team was all NCAA players except one.

Correcting myself now that I’ve looked it up.

Curtis Cup is Great Britain & Ireland only and six out of eight 2021 members are NCAA players.

Watch some LET, then see how you feel! The difference is tangible. I know that's a tour, and good Euro players prop up the "American" tour, but i really get a feeling Europe doesn't have that much high quality beyond the PGA/Solheim group.

I watched a bit of Vic Open on the weekend, and Australia seems to have a lack of depth also. Hannah Green won. There was a 20 shot gap to 20th place!

Good chance I'll catch hell for this, but does American have that much high quality beyond Solheim group? Like I said, as of right now going by Rolex Rankings the field's pretty even if you take away Nelly, DK, and Lexi.

JTBC Classic probably has the best date in the entire 2022 LPGA schedule!  It's the week before Chevron and the first tournament after LPGA took a 6 weeks recess from the US.

As a result, it's the hottest ticket in town even with a paltry $1.5 million purse:

  1.   Top-83:  Only 14 players haven't signed up
  2.   Top-10 Epson Tour:  Only 2 players haven't signed up
  3.   #81 - 100:  Only 6 players haven't signed up
  4.   Top 45 Q-Series:  #25 Sanna Nuutinen is the only player who hasn't signed up

The players who haven't signed up include players who won't play all year like Shanshan Feng, Sakura Yokomine, Jane Park and etc.  It very well will become the tournament with the strongest field outside of the five Majors.

It's going to take me a while to stop referring to it as the Kia.

As of now Yokomine is entered in Chevron.

Congrats Rachel....you're the ONLY ONE Stanford can COUNT ON.

WTH...The Zhangster shoots +1....Stanford should cut Rose from the travelling team.

The $25M Yani deal is off the table....Jinping just announced no PROC passport  is available.

Rose will be lucky if Cally offers her $1M over 7 years.

I guess I'll now root for the REAL Zhang...WeiWei.

Is a "SPIETH" on #12 at the ANWA  now a possibility?

@MagicClassic407 so who are you rooting for in women's figure skating?

I love when they (Japanese gal) skate to the Gladiator movie theme song...what a great song.

I don't know any of the gals...so I have no idea who to cheer for.

They just interviewed Katerina Witt....56 yrs old....she's still a SMOKESHOW.

I watch on CBC....but are you embarrassed Johnny Wier covers ice skating?🤣

I also don't like another Weir...Mike.
