Favorite golf YouTube channel?

UPandDOWN4double

Recommended Posts

I spend more time than I care to admit on YouTube. I watch everything from instructionals to documentary to vlogs. Some of my current favorites are..

  • Good Good (each member of Good Good also has a personal channel)
  • Mark Crossfield
  • TXG
  • Peter Finch
  • Skratch

Who are some of your favorites and why?

I like Dan Hendriksen.

He does a fair amount of playing vlogs and courses are usually interesting and the crew/banter is generally pretty lighthearted. He also does some instruction and review stuff as well.

As my game as progressed into what it is now, for me it has become a different approach to the game that will allow me to score the way I do but also be able to golf for a longer period of time. For me, I usually start my morning before my round watching Paul Wilson on youtube and getting my swining easier and really nailing the concepts I want to take to the course. It has helped me consistently stay in the 70's and really gave me more reason to take more club and hone in on learning to hit my clubs rather that swinging away with them. For entertainment, I like watching the Crossfield compare clubs and the two Taylormade guys when they have PGA guests on.

Several different types of golf content on youtube, hard to measure across the board.

Entertainment value: Erik Anders Lang / Skratch by far puts out the highest quality / entertaining golf content.  There's more thought and production to what he and his group puts out than others.

Instruction: Clay Ballard and Mr. Short Game

Equipment: TXG

For entertainment Stacked Golf. Has nothing to do with actual playing too much, but it’s a couple who goes to garage sales and finds deals on golf clubs.  No idea why I’m so interested but I keep it constantly rolling lol.

I like "golf with gen". Genevieve primarily focuses on vlog and talks through course management.

"Luke kwon golf" is also good. Luke talks about all the ups and downs of being a tour player.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned "golfholics". Just couple of chill California dudes play all these cool (mainly) California courses.

Golf Sidekick is entertaining to me... just seems like a fun guy to be around.

TXG for equipment

Rick Shiels is interesting... I'd like to play a round with him as well as...

Mark Crossfield

I used to watch a lot of Clay Ballard

Can't remember his name, maybe Jeff Hazzelhoff or something... "PGA instructor of the year" in Naples, FL... I like his teaching style and he keeps the videos short.

I'm ashamed to say I'm so far down the youtube rabbit hole its hard to narrow it down. I discovered Erik Anders Lang recently and have been on a binge watching both of his channels. Last night I watched one about The Willy Wonka of golf-- the founder/ owner of Bandon. Quite interesting, especially when he takes a couple of jabs at certain golf course designers.

As far as golf instructors, too many to mention... I've watched hundreds of them. If they tend to get too technical and over complicate things, I move on. Probably have watched Chris Ryan the most, but every one that's been mentioned and many, many more. Any problem in my golf swing and/or outcomes that rear their ugly head, I plug the issue into search and proceed to watch 10 different teachers. And yes, its reflected in my game...its a mess 😬. I've been working on getting more shaft lean and now I'm hitting it fat more than ever. So if any of you know of a good YouTube lesson on this let me know 🤣. JK!

Anything MDLT/Ernest Jones.

Clay Ballard

Martin Hall

Jim Venetos

All different but each show a valid technique. Hall is probably the most willing to give a swing technique that fits a particular golfer, no cookie cutting with him.

Several including Crossfield, Chris Ryan, Shields, Peter Finch, BLU and TXG. others that used to be good include M&MG, Golfholics, Top speed and others. Seems the good ones are uploading less and less content and moving to other platforms.

What other platforms have they been moving too?

Txg has probably the best content around.  They really know their stuff,  and seem to do very fair, unbiased reviews and videos.

Some of my personal favorites TXG and No Laying Up

Same. No Laying Up is by far my favorite for non-equipment content. TXG is the best for equipment based content.

I'm kind of hit and miss on most of the other influencers (Rick, Peter, Mark, James, etc.)

10 years ago, Crossfield hands down.  Too bad he lost his way so right now for me it's Shiels and TXG.
