I seriously like Hideki. Don't know exactly why, just his style and manner - and I sort of have the same swing - slow on the backswing, slight pause at the top.

 

Interesting that his caddy is wearing a Takami logo on his hat. Tiny company, wonder how much it costs to sponsor a caddy?

Yep. I don’t understand not at least hitting hybrid out of there the second time. It would literally be easier than the 5 iron to elevate.

When Hideki leads the field in SG:Putting, he’s tough to beat.

Hideki has been my favorite player for a few years, don't really know why, just like his game and demeanor I guess.

Hideki's game has always been good. It is now nudging towards great - he's clearly been working on his putting and wedges. Shows. (Putting now decent, but still the weakest part of his game - he missed a couple short ones he really should have made - but if his putting ever comes together, this is going to be a multiple-major golfer).

 

But there's more than that - the X-Factor.

 

Have always loved that Al Pacino line in the Devil's Advocate. "Pressure. It changes everything. Some people you squeeze them, they focus. Others fold. Can you summon your talent at will?"

 

Pretty much summed up that last hole. Tiger had that. Hideki increasingly does too. 

 

A playoff hole - 280 three wood straight into into the sun (we all know how tough that is - he couldn't even see it land). Less than three feet from the hole? Talk about "summoning your talent at will, and focusing under pressure". 

 

He is starting to develop the same intimidation factor Tiger always had. If it is close in the homestretch, don't count on Hideki melting - that gets in people's heads.

No, he's right.  Henley's back 9 was a masterclass in losing by playing too safe.

Such a thin line between winning and losing, Henley's putt on 18 was sooo close in regulation.
