Mizuno JPX 923

I’m really intrigued to see the 923 tours.  The 921 T were either a love or hate thing.  I personally thought they were/are a fantastic iron.  If they can minimize the offset a little and add a touch of bounce to the sole that would be all they need.

Ball speed and spin consistency were awesome with the 921.  Thought they felt very similar to the mmc as well.  The shape of the p-8 was greatly improved from previous models. Of course, all of these things are subjective anyway.

Very much looking forward to the new design.

I am currently playing JPX 921Forged.  I was hoping and have been told the 223 are about the same in forgiveness to those.  Was told those 2 irons are kinda a tossup in playability and forgiveness.

I cant talk about how 223s play in comparison, but side-by-side, the size difference is quite noticeable

Yeah I think that’s basically right. I had 223s earlier this year and would say they’re a little smaller and slightly less forgiving than Forged, but very much in the same ballpark. And definitely more forgiving than Tour.

TXG did a Q&A on their Instagram stories on Sunday. One of the questions that was asked (and answered) was "any news on the JPX 223's?" They replied "Yes".

I would expect we will start seeing some info on the new release in the next few weeks.

Saw this online - not my info but appears reliable.

Update on next year’s Mizuno JPX 923 line-up for us lefties (got this info from my fitter at Mizuno who had meetings with corporate all last week):

-Hot Metal Pro’s will release in the Fall

-Forged will release next Spring

-There will be NO Tour or SEL models (like how they had for 921 series) for lefties

There will be quite a few disappointed people if there really is no 923 Tour being released!

agree. I want this to look more like a ZX7 because I’ve been very tempted by that little srixon butter knife.

I guess the question now is when will we see something?  September?

I love Srixon 7 series and play the 745, but would not call them butter knife at all. They are on the larger end of the spectrum for one pc forgings.

The way I read it, he meant no JPX Tour and SEL in Lefty.  I would be shocked, shocked I say if there is no Tour in RH.

So, I think I remember Mizuno saying that every release they focus a little more on changes for one model over the others. Last time around it was the Forged. Wonder if this time it will be the Tour or the Hot Metal.

The ZX7’s are pretty thin IMO.  Idk the rankings of thin players irons but I’d say they are pretty thin. 4 and 5 are bladey

Thats my only gripe with ZX7. Long irons and short irons progress in the wrong way, like some older Mizzy sets and the P7TW do. Smaller long irons, larger short irons. I think the ZX7s are the same blade length (or close to) all the way through, but when I tested them (a friend games 4-Pw), I was absolutely fine up to the 7 or 6, and in the 4 I only thought "Wait, is that still the same set?"

Oh OK so your source didn’t say anything about a forged or HM Pro in LH?   Maybe I read it wrong.

My understanding of the info was: Standard HM, HM Pro and Forged in Lefty. No Tour or SEL set for Lefties.

Seems like they're going back to the lefty lineup they had for the Jpx 919 (Standard and Forged) but adding the HM Pros?
