Are his irons just rebadged PM7TW's or whatever?  The Nike blades that TM absorbed and rebadged for Tiger?

Or P730's like in Morikawa's bag?

They look like the P730 they've been around before the TW model

Rory absolutely guzzling the Ventus coolaid

Maybe just too much time on my hands at the moment. But… I think the connotation associated with the phrase “drinking the Kool-Aid” is negative. ‘Someone that believes in something blindly that is a bad idea or doomed’… Therefore definitely not gonna say using Ventus shafts is ‘drinking the kool-aid’ 😊 It’s a legit, quality product.

Okay, Mr. Literal out! Haha

I'm sure he likes having the feel be the same throughout the top of the bag, it just surprises me that it also resulted in the ball flight/performance he is happy with. Usually it seems the flights players want with those clubs are different enough to warrant different shafts

The Phase 1 irons that they made in 2018 looked an awful lot like the TGR irons he went to post Nike. And the TGRs were really just unbadged Nikes

Thanks for sharing. I haven't seen those phase 1's before but definitely have seen those TGR's which were confirmed Nike made. They definitely look extremely similar. Wouldn't doubt some Nike builders just handed it over.

As compared to the P7TW yes.

Rors proto fit somewhere between 730 and TW. Slightly bigger than 730 but not aa big as TW. And obv CG and sole grind/width perfected specifically for Rors

Looks very much like a Titleist MB which makes sense

One thing I find interesting all the time. Your pros almost always have way more bounce on their wedges then rec golfers. I seem people all the time “ oh I need 6 degrees of bounce” and proceed to chunk half wedge shots and fat chips.

bounce is your friend.. get to know him..

For every golfer I fit or consult with on their equipment that has enough bounce on their wedges, I see 50 that don’t have enough and wonder why they struggle so much.

Bounce on the 58 surprises me. Most witbs I see, the 58/60 is low. Given how tight tour fairways can be, that doesn't surprise me. But I bet they change wedges based on turf conditions...I do.

I have 2 60s. A 10 bounce and a 8 bounce. The 10 is my summer/fall/early winter wedge. The 8 is for when the rye overseed takes hold and the ground dries out a bit.

I feel like when I look. They are almost always above 10 degrees. Tight turf or not. Most in that 12 degree range.  I don’t think you ever see anyone with a wedge below 8..

Shame he has a full bag deal with Taylormade.

Would love to see a McIlroy bag with a few spots for other brands in the wedges/utility spots and even irons. I bet he'd have an awesome setup then.

Totally agree on bounce in wedges as mentioned above.  One thing I notice is the bounce looks to be pushed towards the center.  Nice leading edge grind.

JT and Jordan Spieth play a pretty low bounce lob wedge - Vokey T grind with 4* of bounce.

Lots of low-bounce lob wedges among the Vokey staffers in this grid - https://www.vokey.com/nav/on-tour.aspx

It seems like half of the WITB I look at lately have a Vokey T. Staff or non staff
