Here are some shots of the New Level 623 CB's, as well as a comparison pics to the Maltby TS-1. I agree don't sleep on Maltby, it's a decent product and I enjoyed playing it. But it's hard to beat New Level, as they have nailed these out of the park. Looks, feel, design, clean lines. This is what I would expect a players cb to look like. Solid one-piece forging in 1020 carbon steel. Consistent offset throughout the set, clean and compact head shape. Nothing to really turn you off from a looks perspective.

I went with AMT White in S300.

I'm more of a P7MB, P7TW, 620MB kind of style. The shape alone isn't bad, but the machining is a bit much for me.

I just placed an order at haywoodgolf.

Combo CB/MB: 4-6 CB, 7-P MB

52* and 56* raw wedges

All 2* flat with KBS Tour (& HiRev for wedges) R flex shafts.

White with silver ferrules, standard haywood grips

Lead time is 4 weeks which is about the time that courses will open here in Ottawa. Psyched. Really happy to support a Canadian company and one that offers the full line in LH.

I was very close to pulling the trigger on a 623 MB-CB combo set, but no idea when they will have the MB's available again. They do look really good.

I'll probably go with a Sub70 659 combo set in black, as soon as they get them in.

Do the Haywood CB have leading edge relief like the 623 CB from NL by any chance?

Big fan of Sub70 here.  They make fantastic products and their customer service is outstanding.  New Level seems to be on the same playing field, as well.  I just don't really like the design of their newer clubs but I've heard nothing but great things about their stuff and their customer service.

If those Haywood CB irons had a little beveling on the leading edge I'd buy 10 sets of them.  I'm thinking something like a Titleist 620 CB or Bridgestone J15 CB.  The Haywood's are quite possibly the best looking iron I've seen in a long time.  I just don't do great with that flat sole/leading edge in my irons.

I'm definitely a fan of the DTC brands.  Bought the Sub70 699 pros last year.  Can't say enough about their customer service.  Super helpful, and offered a decent  buy back deal when they didn't need to once I realized I didn't really like them.  Just picked up a Haywood putter and driving iron.  Also really quick and helpful customer service.  Ended up going with Geom for my irons, and absolutely love them.

Driver: Callaway Mavrik 10.5*

Wedges: Geom 53*/57*

Those New Level 623 CBs are some of the sexiest irons I've seen in a while. I could see them knocking out my PTxPros. I'm loving the fact that DTC's are putting out great quality product at affordable prices. Have only demoed Hogan stuff so far but the product was better then a lot of the OEM gear I've tried. I could definitely have a full DTC bag in the future.

@5 O'Clock Charlie Beautiful irons and thanks for the pics....  Those head covers should be burned and forgotten, however.  Whats a Mitatippi Tate fan doing in Wisconsin? HA 😛

Thank you for the question. A few people on here have been discussing this so we thought we would provide some insight for our CB irons.  They do not have a beveled edge / pre-worn leading edge. 'Pre worn' is a term OEM's use and simply refers to the curvature of the leading edge due to the camber of the sole and the club design itself. Essentially a 'pre worn leading edge' is a 'rolled' leading edge aka has a bit more curvature. Our leading edge was designed to allow the club to sit flush without the leading edge being sharp and still providing an in-between of a flat leading edge and a fully rolled / pre-worn leading edge. In short, For those playing in the CB category, there should be zero issues with our leading edge aka the performance of the club and offers ideal turf interaction in both soft and firm conditions. We have spent hundreds of hours testing with multiple levels of golfer, multiple swing types, diggers, pickers etc and the consensus was strongly that they worked well for the majority of players in the CB level of golfer.

We hope this helps and if anyone else has any questions, please feel free to ask and we will be happy to help.

Cheers!

A picture of the toe of a 7 iron, club soled, facing the golfer would help.  It's not just you guys, but this view (a critical one) is often not displayed for consumers for some reason...

I went through their PGM program in the 90's and then wised up and got out of the business back in 2016. I do like the covers though, reminds me of good times in Starkville playing there and through out the South East.

Really interested in the Sub70 and the new level irons.  623 Cb for new level, and the 659 TC in the sub70. I’m a pretty decent player and strike the ball center most of the time. Thoughts on these?

I'm curious too, I have a combo set of the NL 623 in my cart but have yet to pull the trigger.  I recently got a NL 60* Tri-Weight wedge on closeout for $75.  Yesterday I finally put in a practice session with it and I am blown away.  I'm not ready to get rid of my Snake Eyes quite yet but when I do, NL will definitely be in consideration.  Sad that the 623s are being closed out though, might have to just do it...

I’m going to pull the trigger on the new level 623 CBs. Price is too good with the shaft upgrade as well.

I’ll have a review on some Sub 70 659TC irons in a couple weeks.  Grabbed a set of 4-AW satin heads off eBay this morning.  They’ll be fitted to some Accra iCWT 2.0 95i M4 STIFF 95g shafts and adding some BB&F ferrules.  Grips will be Tour Velvet +4 mids.  Gotta call Jason at Sub70 and order 54/58* wedge heads to finish it out.

Getting older and hands/wrists are complaining after 18.  Lightening the load and torque a bit, I hope.🤞

First build of a set, so I’ll be taking my time getting them together. Hosel brushes ordered too!   Got the epoxy and shaft beads.IMG_0468.jpeg.3c6f819acc348e141a48565b0f1e5618.jpegIMG_0469.jpeg.fb682c7534754706214e8e9c52fcc366.jpegIMG_0466.jpeg.db1da757116c36d1ddeececee1dae1af.jpeg
